View Full Version : Install wiring and kit.
Right i need some serious help.
I am looking to sort my system out in my car.
I want sub and amp, and some amped components. Am i right in guessing i can just run my rear speakers of the headunit for a bit of treble in the rear.
Look at this wiring diagram of my stereo, am i right in thinking that for the components I run some RCA's from the outputs shown below to the amp in the boot then back to the crossovers at each side?

Is there enough room to run all these cables down the sills? There will be a lot!
Also i need some advice on the kit to purchase....
right i think i have got amp and sub sorted, i just need some ideas on some components!

yeah you pretty much have the idea
and yeah you'd be amazed at how many wires you can run in your car lol but remember to run the powerline down the opposite side from the rca's

I would like to mount the Crossovers in the boot along with the amp, is this unreasonable as i would have to run the two outputs from each crossover to the front of the car!
What size woofers would you go for? is it worth getting the larger ones with adaptors or sticking with 13cm?
What comps shall i go for?

Really? What would you go for then? Will my battery be enough to power two amps?
I need a sub too!
Also what about adapters for larger woofers in the door cards?

u could upgrade ur batt if u want be not really nessary tbh.
jus run a 4 guage from ur batt to ur boot and feed it into a distribution block 1:2. then run a 8 guage to each amp. well i have the following sub wit a built in amp which i find good for the money.i'd recommend it

yeah....coz the amp running the comps doesnt have to be as powerfull....i wouldnt wanna blow the comps
right, what would you recommend to run the comps then? the 2 channel ones a can see kick out 55w per channel?!? My head unit does 50!
So whats the point in amping?

the 50w shown on ur hu is never realistic, they jus say that to sell and its also the peak not rms. the comps i recommend are 90w rms so u'll need a 2 channel amp thats give out around 80rms per channel or bridged if its a 4 channel amp
can anyone explain to me what bridging is?
Mr Nathan

dont know what bridging is but im just doing pretty much the same as you (although i already have a sub and a mono amp so i had to buy another amp anyway) i got some rainbow deluxe comps and a jbl 75.2 amp. was about £270 for everything i needed. you dont need the rca cable to go from the amp to the crossovers, just from the amp to the headunit. you use speaker cable to go to the crossovers from the amp, tweeters and woofers.

an example is if u have a 4 channel amp and u bridge it to make a 2 channel amp.
this is done by using the + on one channel and the - on the other makin 2 channel into one
