yesterday i took my dials out and changed the leds. i reconnected everything and put all the dash back together... went out a couple hours later to go out... tried startin the car, starts but then cuts out after 2 seconds.. tried again and again..
took the dials back out this mornin, and checked connection in the back.. but still not running..
any help anyone?
thanks
No wires damaged?, do you remember pulling hard on anything last night when you were taking out the dials? Sounds like imobiliser to me. Does it start up ok and then just cut out? or do you have problems starting aswel?
NB "pulling hard on anything last night" does not require comments relating to masterbation :|

yeah it starts up then cuts out... then when i try again it will take a while to start up again...
how do i fix it?

anyone else...
Sounds like imob problem to me, only way to fix it (if you are 100% sure you have put everything back together) is a trip to vauxhall.
One thing that might be worth trying 1st though is to use your spare key
Sometimes the chip inside the normal keys goes a bit dodgy and can send the imob into funny mode.
Failing that, i'd go to vaux.

would be good if i had a spare key then! great thats all i need :(
is there no other way?
Somebody may come up with a good idea.
Try disconecting the battery for half an hour. Probably won't do anything but sometimes when a computer goes wrong all you need to do is reset it. Worth a try.

yeah ill try that when i get home...
dont suppose theres a tutorial is there.. havent done it before.. would be useful for a little guidance... dont wanna F**k up anything else
thanks btw
Taking the battery off?
Just need a spanner (forget what size) just undo the negative (closest to the passenger compartment) terminal. Take off the wire (don't worry you can touch it) leave it dangling down the side of the battery for 30 mins then put it back on. May make a sparking sound and you may think you're going to get a shock but you wont trust me.
Just don't ask Ash to do your battery when he's pissed :|

nice one mate.. never done it before, so wasnt sure what had to come off e.t.c :D
but if this doesnt work...
dreaded trip to vaux then...
haha why? what happened?
Tried to fix a fridge onto the car at PVS, probably wasn't his fault as loads of people were round the car. Just thought i'd blame him as i know he can take a joke

LOL... nice! anyways bud cheers for your help
your dials are not connected correctly mate. Its a security measure as the car thinks that there are no dials. Use one hand and push the dials in hard, use the other hand to turn on the ignition.
You should notice the dials all light up, give it 5 seconds and then start the car. Once its started you can let go of the dials, chances are they will die again but once the car is started you will be able to drive, just maybe without any instruments.
My mates have done this in the past and no matter how many times you try and re-connect them they always seem to f*ck up. Not sure how to permanently fix it...
Hope this helps.

This is true, if there is a dodgy connection it wont start.
Ive heard that its unlikely but sometimes just taking the dials out can cause a problem? :dontknow:

i dont think it is thou guys. because they still light up now.. car just doesnt run... like i stated... runs for 1/2 secs then dies.. but ill try again i suppose...
As gtc said id put my money on for immobiliser problem in that case.

its definatly a fault with the dials. i was going 2 change the whole instrument pannel in my car, but they told me that my car would not start if i did, unless i had it reprogramed. hope this helps.

That would only be if you changed the whole unit. Chainging the LED's shouldnt cause this problem.

You can not change the dials as they are linked in with the ECU and as such need to be re-progragrammed by Vauxhall.
This problem on the other hand may genuinely be an imobiliser one. Although the fact that it started then cut out, suggest there is fault in the connection possibly leading to the imobiliser fault.

yeah i know, its gotta be immoboliser now!!
yeah thats what i thought... only changin the leds...
loads of people have done it on here.. thinkin it was that easy and no1 had this problem.. i thought i would give it ago!!
wish i hadnt bothered now!! this is doin my head in
When i changed my dial mats i tried starting the car without the dials in, and it did exactly what you describe.
If i was you i would take it apart again completely and put it back together piece by piece making sure everything has a good connection as you go. Have a proper good look at the plug at the back of the unit to make sure none of the connections are bent/damaged.
If that doesnt work then its vauxhall job id say.

yeah thats what ill do... :D
hmm yes i like sound of a vauxhall job!!
this is why im too chicken to do my own dials :)

christ... You must be desperate!
Im telling you for a fact its not your immobiliser. Do what i said about holding the dials in and if that doesnt work ill pay for your car to go to vauxhall. LOL!
The backlight will work, as my mates always does, your engine lights like emissions will work, but your whole instruments like speedo, revs, petty and odometer will all die.
All u need to do is put pressure on the dials untill they come to life, you need to do this before you turn the key though.
Rob
when i start my car up when the alarm is activated it starts for 2 secs then dies cos the immobilser kills it so it could be ?

youve probably tried this so ignore it if you have but swap back in your old bulbs? i know on my car (and its not a corsa so prob not the same) that replacing bulbs with low power leds makes the car act as though a bulb has blown or in some cases that there is no connection and both the alarm and all the electronics act very sluggish and even ignor commands when this is the case (like i say it is a beamer so may be totally different)

the immobiliser on the corsa is a dead bolt system, it will not even tick over if it was the immobiliser
what it cud be is a wire shorting out the circuit so the immob wud kick in thinking its being hotwired, so its more than likely going to be 1 of those wires uve been playing with lol and not the actual immob
will make a nice difference in price
