Because they're new out on the shelves there aren't many reviews, although i've found a few comments about it.

I just gave my car a wash using my Flash car wash thingy and I'm rather pleased with the results.

Big piccies so I'll post links

Dirty Car (http://www.pertheus.co.uk/pics/dirtycar.JPG)

Clean Car (http://www.pertheus.co.uk/pics/cleancar.JPG)

Engine cover (http://www.pertheus.co.uk/pics/enginecover.JPG)

mmm nice and shiny (http://www.pertheus.co.uk/pics/mmmshiny.JPG)

I bought one at the Ideal Home show other week, paid £20 and got a free extra 10 wash filter and shampoo.

Have to say it's very good indeed, and it did dry 99% spotless, if it had been even ths slightest bit warm it would have dried faster and therefore would have been spotless I think, but it was a cold day.

In the faq with it it says about the cirt clinging to the sponge more than with other products and I can say this is true, my sponge was black after doing less than half the car, so what it says seems to be true.

The water does indeed sheet off the car when rinsing the soap off and then again when you spray the filter water on it at the end.

If nothing else, for £20 it saves you draging a bucket around But I would definatly reccomend it to anyone.

Nick

First thing I noticed was what other people did, the sponge gets black very quickly and it's quite tough to get clean.

The bits that I cleaned came out fantastic, dried perfectly. The windows came out especially good, with no spots at all. The only slight problem is that the rest dries so well that the bits you missed show up big time! So as a result I had to redo quite a few spots.

But overall I was quite impressed.

I think this Flash system is the perfect system really.

You still have to put some elbow grease in to get all the dirt off, but it eliminates the whole need to keep emptying a bucket, as well as the need to keep running around the car with a chamois before the water dries

Sounds pretty good, although i wouldn't waste my money. nothing wrong with the way i clean the car so i'll stick to my way.

Could u not just use normal car washing liquid to keep the cost down a little

02-04-2005, 12:24
they use it on Pimp my ride but then don't know if they where paid to use them may have a look into getting one

No cos the blue one on the right does something to the water so that it runs off your car leaving it "spotless". de-ionises it or something

Terry
02-04-2005, 12:33
I was meaning can they not be bought separately so u would only buy the blue one and just use ur normal washing liquid for the other :?:

Oh, i have no idea. Best have a look in halfords or somewhere like that. Actually i bet Wilko's sell em cheaper, they normally have cheap crap.

It gets my car better than any hand car wash ever has and its cheaper and easy to use, costs about 50p per was with shampoo and filter

Terry
02-04-2005, 12:52
I suppose if u use a carwash then 50p a wash aint bad at all :)

not a chance mate, its just another stupid gimmick, nothing can beat a good hand wash then chamois.

Hi

Just went to Halfords £20 for the gun and around £6 more the refills of which i think you need two different refills.

Bye

It is really good - I got one the other day and tried it - you have to spray over the car with normal water, then with shampoo'ed water, then rub it with a sponge, more normal water and then the deionised water from the filter.

Went a bit mad with the deionised water and went over the car twice with it, so it took a while to dry, but the results were pretty good. The gun thing is quite heavy so it is a bit of a pain in the ass after a while, but worthwhile.

I wouldn't bother spending too long spraying the shampoo-water mix on though - it tends to run off quickly, so it's much easier to squirt some from the bottle onto your sponge, add a bit of water and give the car a good rub. Like those other reviews said, the sponge does get filthy, but the Flash shampoo stuff is really good - not easy to get bugs off the bonnet, but it works better than most carwash shampoos i've tried - didn't even have to spray on bug n' tar remover before washing like I usually do.

Certainly gives better results than automatic car washes (which don't usually get my car clean - even on the most expensive program!), and I was happy with the finish considering my car ain't been washed in the last 1000 miles...

whats your problem c4r5aj4m1e do you think I would just make it up that its better than a hand car wash, I used to pay £5 a time at hand car wash, but this flash thing beats it because it uses deionised water so theres no need to leather it

Terry
02-04-2005, 13:40
I can c c4r5aj4m1e's point as u go to car washes and they used power hoses and still there are marks that only a sponge and a bit of elbow grease can remove, but if u do that with the flash gun then it should be cool. And I think the Ionised water finish is the main selling part of the gun not the initial wash

So if it's good at taking the dirt off, does it take the wax off as well? I don't wax my car every time I wash it every 3 - 4 washes, don't fancy waxing it every time!

sicky
02-04-2005, 14:20
so how long do the refills last? i dont fancy paying £5 everytime i wash the car - if they last at least 5 washes i might be tempted to try it out

bluecorsa

The refills that you buy are good for 10 washes. The ones that come inbox with the unit are for 3 uses, and I bought a bumper pack which came with a 10-wash refill pack included.

It says on the box that it doesn't take your wax off, but I'm not really sure - will probably wax mine next time I wash and then I'll find out the next time I wash it after that!
