What revs are you doing to get 70 MPH? [Archive]

I was wondering what everyone's revolution count is for driving at 70 MPH. I was expecting mine to be lower than it is.

It's gonna depend on what engine you've got. Going to be higher on a 1.2 for example than a 1.8.

I know that it will vary depending on engine size but that was the point of my thread. I wanted to compare them so as to ascertain whether mine was performing correctly.

Just that in chris220's sig if says hes driving a 1.8 and your not gonna be able to see if your 1.8 is performing right against a 1.2! But if you just want to compare overall fair enough.

I was actually hoping that others with the 1.8 and 1.4 would respond so that I get, as you say, an overall comparison. Of course hearing what the other models are capable of is of interest too.

Had a look at mine the other day sits at about 3800-4000 rpm @ 70 mph. Mines a 1.2 16v.

i get 2900-3000 (just a tad under 3k) for 70mph with a 1.4 16v mgzr ;)

sits high 3k for 90mph :D

Not if urs is a 1.2 mate. If its a 1.2 then ur gonna get high revs ttryin to do 70+

mine isnt a twinport, its a 1.2 sxi.. it does 3700 at 70mph and ive been 120mph total 8)

i have a 1.2 16v corsa it does about 3500/4000 revs in 70 i have do about 2miles with it at redline b4 topd out at 125 just i dnt reccomend it at al!!!!!!

doesnt matter...depends on what wheels and tyres you all have, gearbox etc, so prob all different!

I have 1.2 sxi [80], mine dus bout 4000 rpm ish at 70mph. Sorry lads but theres no way u got 125mph out of it even goin down a hill, the gearing ratio wouldn't allow for it. I've managed 115 goin down a slight hill & mines's 80bhp version with induction kit.

i always thought mine was really high, i've got a 1.2 SXi and mine sits between 3800-4000 which i thought was high. had a punto before that and it sat about 1000 less. i know its a different car but notice a huge difference with fuel economy on motorway runs.

what sort of mpg is everyone else getting on a 1.2? or how many miles out a full tank of petrol?

there are really quite low geared corsa's.

its because they are a revvy engine.

mine really picks up after 3500 rpm but thats because its 16 valve as well :!:

Mines a 1.2 facelift design so on so on, and im pretty sure its like 5k or more revs at 70 :angry:
