View Full Version : Help With SUbwoofer
right i have my subwoofer fitted ... its the vibe space active 3000W and its powered with the headunit ALpine 9855r.
right the question is sometime the bass is reall punchy and too basyy ... i wana no hwo to turn the treable up or turn the bass down ive actually turned the bass down by pressing the button which turns up the volume and turning it down.
just sumtimes it sounds 2 bassy .. i have seen theres options like:
--- Parametic Equaliers
-- Crossover
--- TIme Correction
i have a manual but 4 other ppl with these HU maybe u can help me ?
press the volume nob and it will bring up subwoofer control, you can turn it up and down via that. Ensure that the RCA's are connected to the sub out on the back of the HU.
If its still too loud, adjust the gain on the amp.
RCA's out on the back of the HU .. uve lost me !
ye ill try turning the gaisn downs its like abt half way up atm
Also im sure my HU is bluetooth compatible .. what does this mean how does it work and whats it do ?
nooby questions i no but its goto be dne ! :D
the 9855r isnt bluetooth compatible unless you get the additional adaptor to go with it.
Did you wire the sub up yourself?
Try pressing the volume nob, does the subwoofer control come up? And when you adjust it does it adjust the volume of the sub? Try that first before i explain :P
na punked did it 4 me .. its all sorted im usign a 4 or 3 Guage wiring kit i think.
ye ive already worked that out 4 myself .. when u pres the volume knob it cums up with subwoofer control and it says like 1-15 .. den if u carry on it says like fader/Balance
also what is defeat it sounds **** without Defeat on? hardly ne bass at all

If your sub isn't set up properly you will probably need to get it done to your tastes by adjusting the gain on the amp and the volume on the headunit.
You could get a bass controller? I had one and it worked well, I like to listen to different types of music so for example I could turn the bass up on RnB tracks and down on rock tunes just through turning a small knob on the dash.
So did adjusting the subwoofer control make the sub quieter and less bassy as you wanted? Or did it have no effect?
Defeat kills all enhancements on the HU, and just sends out a pure unaltered signal.
ahh right nice .. how much wud a bass controller set me back and are they easy to fit/install
ye a little but its still kinda bassy i think my best option would be to turn the gains down as i aint done this since i had the subwofoer installed.
will try it when i drive next which will be in a bout a hour or 2.
ahh right so is it better to have defeat on .. or off ?>

Whichever sounds better to you mate. There is no right or wrong. Its all preference.
You dont need a bass controller. The subwoofer control on the head unit is exactly the same.
If you set it to 0 and the bass is still loud then the gains are too high. Lower them slightly and it should be more effective.
If you dont have amped front components, then ied leave it off as you may want to boost the bass at the front slightly. But as Joel says, whatever sounds best to you
Cheerz Guys ! jus turned the gains down a lil and it sounds much better !
about the turbning the bass to 0 ... didnt think the subwoofer wud let out ne bass out if i dun that but ill have a try with that 2 :)
Depending on the gain it might still put out a little bit, but this could be a sign its set slightly to high. But i wouldnt worry about it tbh
