View Full Version : Radio coming back ON minutes/hours after engine turned OFF
the last 2 mornings i've come down to a flat battery, no great shakes so-far it's charged within half an hour but i can see this becoming a total PITA tomorrow morning already. Even if i turn it off again, it will come back on minutes/hours after i lock it up again. Bit of a 'Nightmare before Christmas'!
Did a quick search on the web and found 2 others with the same prob (a Corsa and an Astra) but no solutions, though have PM'd them for more info. Searched the board here but can't find anything on this specific one.
Has anyone heard/had this one please?
cheers

I don't know why it would do that but you could solve it by putting a switch on the permanent live wire.

if your car is 2005 onwards with a cd30,cd30mp3 stereo then these have this problem of switching themselves on. the only way round it is to get a new one, and if your car is of this age then as long as the mileage is within 60k it should be under warranty.
Use this as an inscentive to get a nice aftermarket HU :D Totally worth it. The sound quality is 1000000X better. The CD player isnt so damn pants! (I found my standard one LOVED skipping )
And, well yeah. Just do it!

or... disconnect the battery at night ?

Thats abit of a bugger to do every night!

Yeah thought about that if i couldn't solve it normally, but things seem to be working OK now (finger's heavily crossed) after i went in and changed the Ignition Logic settings, bizarre i know. Last night i set it to activated i.e. ON and everything was fine after checking for 3 hours before i went to bed.
Woke up, first thing that came to mind, sh*te! the radio, but pleased to find it was still off.
Have now changed the settings back to deactivated i.e. OFF and again after 3 hours the radio is still off.
I wouldn't have bet a bean that changing these settings would fix it, so i'm still a bit anxious for the day's ahead, i mean in theory this should've had no effect on stopping it coming alive at 3 in the morning or whenever.
Chr*st, maybe it IS a ghost :-o

Mmmm tempting i know but there's always something else that sucks my cash away that stops it! and especially with it being such a lowly model as mine. If i had a better car then yeah, would love that. Too many times stood in front of Jungle Warrior speaker stacks from '88-'92 have also dulled the pin-sharp hearing i had, so i can live with generic Vauxhall-guff for now ; )
Haha fair play! Hope its fixed for you now mate :)

It was first registered new in Sept 2004 so just out of warranty now. I went down to Vauxhall's on the 2nd day to ask and they said there were no 'known problems' and no recalls as such. However i might go back down now that i know this, thanks. Is there something you can post like a reference number of the problem that i could quote please, or anyway of finding out? how did you find out may i ask? i've a feeling i'll just be giving the same line unless i can step it up a bit.
They wanted £70 for the diagnosis and then the extra obviously for whatever needing doing to rectify the problem. I imagine all sorts of new sh*t going in like 'new battery' 'new this' 'new that' etc.
So i said my thankyou and goodbye and would try and fix it myself.
I've uncrossed the finger's but am now relying on the power of Jesus at Christmas time! ;-)
