Just need abit of help please...
Bought this baby, Alpine IDA-X001 couple of weeks ago and today got the time to fit it, sadly enough i hadn't actually opened the box up till today, so wasn't aware of this problem till now...

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj90/sadler1989/S3010239.jpg

Opened it up and realized that all the wires need attaching or 'crimping' as the useless Halfords t*** technician told me, apparently they can fit it but its gonna cost me 50 quid or more and the cable i had to buy cost me 20 quid on its own, and i haven't saved money at all buying it off eBay as i got charged 50 quid in import taxes so did int save myself money at all!.....

So anyway.... I NEED HELP!!! Took photos of the leads that were supplied and the lead i had to buy (Male and Female cables?) to fit the unit.... so just want some help and if anyone knows what needs doing? or if anyones came across this before??

Its actually quite a simple task if you have a soldering iron and patience. The HU will come with a wiring diagram telling you what each wire is for.

The ISO lead (which is correct) will have a top and bottom section. Top is for power and bottom for all the speakers. Power has 4 (yellow, orange, red and black) wires. Match these to the corresponding wires from the Alpine loom. There is one exception though. Wire red to yellow, and the remaining yellow to red.

Now for the speakers. The Alpine wiring diagram should help you identify which is which. Here is the wiring diagram for the ISO loom:

Just match em up!

Normally in europe a HU is sold with the loom wired to an ISO loom so it can fit easily into most cars. This one may have been an import therefore didn't come pre-prepared for european cars. But like I say, wiring is simple. Just take your time and be careful.

the head unit was from hong kong.... thought i was making a big saving cost me £150 delivered but then UPS charged me £50 and this cable just today cost me £20.... and it R.R.Ps for £299 so i havent saved much now and im unsure if i can even fit it :censor:

anyone seen anything like this before?

Have you got any experience of cutting and twisting wires together? That's essentially all you need to do (and add a dab of solder) A cheapy soldering iron will do. Prob cost you £5 or so.

soulda just got it from uk. mines was a straight fit, came with the iso lead and socket. i would reccomend using bullet connectors rather than just twisting them together. but a cheap soldering iron is also a decent way, then use some shrink wrap wire to seal it up

I meant twist together then add solder to ensure a firm connection. Normal insulating tape will do.

At the very worst, an independent stereo fitter should do it for about £25. It should only take them 15 mins

It has to have a direct live and earth from the Battery, due to a high current draw internal amp.

Or wired to the fuse box of your motor!

Just an update guys,
Iv got the same wiring as Sandler, found a cheaper and easy alternative to the problem, was gonna do the whole, twist solder, heat shrink thing but now am using a conection block cost 70p from DIY shop, easy, secure conections

^^^one of them

Will post pick of connections to ISO for you later/tomorrow, sandler.

i personally would not use this, it has no advantage over bullet connectors. it causes strain on wires as they cant move freely which could cause the wires to be pulled out.

use bullet connectors imo.

they can move freely, each connector can be seperated. they are just joined so ppl can keep the wires together and cut off the connectors not needed but they can be just split to individual connectors.
