Hello, just wandering if the ice experts could give me any good reccomendations for a good quality sub and amp set up. I dont want to spend anymore than £150!

ive seen this on car audio centre and to be fair i think it looks a good deal and it has 5 postive reviews so might go with it, but would it sound crap on a standard headunit or would i have to get a new one.

Also whats the most important part of the specification to look for?? i want good quality, loud- but not headbanging loud and lots of bassss

cheers

this one btw. http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-jbl-gto1202d-gto2060-bx12s-ipw1000_p-22567.htm

Ide go for the Jbl stuff mate.

Reason- personal and reveiwed opinions.

If you understand Theile small parameters , the figures are lot better than of Sony of which you listing.

go for the jbl out of the two.

you could use it with the standard headunit as it has speaker level imouts so you just connect your rear speaks to it but you will get a huge imporvement in sound to everything if you get a better hu and you can then use pre-outs to connect to the sub which will be better

I would upgrade your headunit aswel though as the standard doesnt have pre outs for the amp, you would have to get some sort of converter to make it work on the standard head unit? Dont know what it is you need!

I bought this,

http://www.motor-world.co.uk/show_prod.php?prod_id=12789

and

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JBL-12-1200W-Subwoofer-Box-Amp-Bass-Pack-SUB-3in1-Deal_W0QQitemZ120205731835QQihZ002QQcategoryZ18805 QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

But they replaced the sub for a infinity kappa 12'' in kappa box and its bassy as fook and better imo

The headunit is brilliant quality for the money and looks really nice in the dash!

With the facia converter it cost me just under £300 for it all and im chuffed to bits with it and I fitted it all myself, first time ive ever done it and it was easy as :)

Personally i wouldnt have 6x9's as they drag the soundsatge backwards, The Jbl Gt5 is a good Woofer , the current GT4 had 12mm of x max theGT5 as 14.2mm and also the same price, ive seen the Twelve at 40 quid!

Of the two, definitely buy the JBL stuff. JBL is great value for money. And the fact that you can hook that amp up to your factory HU.

Going second hand is a good way to get nice ICE on a budget btw. Ever considered it?

I like my 6x9's

I like the sound from the back and ive still got my standard speakers in the front and they sound much better with the new headunit :)

At the end of the day its your ears that count. If you like them, that's all that matters. A word of advice though, if you have a sub playing in the same air space as the 6x9s you risk damaging them. Try covering the back of the 6x9s with something thus creating a small enclosure. Empty margarine tubs work well (spray paint them black if you're worried about looks) Its just to keep the large waves created by the sub away from the cone of the shelf speakers.
