You will prolly need a connect2 adapter mate...MEX units are Sony right? Theyre about £50 for the adapters.

Correct, your MEX-BT5000 needs a connects2 adapter to work perfectly with both your steering controls AND you're mfd. Price is similar to above, in the region of £40 - £60.
Alternatively you could get an autoleads one which will be cheaper but wont integrate with your mfd.
