I've just purchased this today would I need to swap the battery and accesory wires with each other to stop my car battery from getting flat?

So would I need to swap red and yellow wires?

you only need to swap them if
1. your loosing your memory in the headunit every time you take the key out.
2. the headunit stays on when you take the key out.

only if your car is a pre 2004 model, if not then you need the quadlock connector and thats approx 30 quid!!
