I've done mine using an FM transmitter as it's the easiest way of doing it. Hidden the transmitter in the glovebox and have an extension cable to the ipod so it's just a single plug showing and have a custom made holder next to the cig lighter for the ipod.

FM transmitter is the only realistic way to do it unless you have a tape deck. the sound quality from an FM transmitter is always going to be sub par, simply due to the limited bandwidth available.

Whats the best way of gettin the best sound out of it then with a standard unit.

Would it be a 12v input into the lighter socket?

Your only realistic option is the FM Transmitter, unless you have a tape deck. Would you consider an aftermarket HU?

Good idea on picking up an iPod touch mate, i got one a couple of weeks ago :)

not sure .. i know they are better for sound quality etc but I like the set up of the centre console as is.

I havent actually looked behind the standard unit but is ther a Audio out (Red & WHite) probably not but that would be a good way.

I will look inot the FM transmitter suggestions cheers.

Yeh there well worth it. I got 16gb .. i just updated it, its going to be just like the iPhone. AM waiting until Feb becuase 3rd Party apps are being laucnhed officially soo will be no need for jailbreak mate. When they come out see what there like and what people are saying then revert back to 1st update on you Touch. *Edit* Ma GF thinks the Touch is awfull!!??? whats that all about lol.

And some pics would be great too thanks.

I got my transmitter from Argos, it's the Belkin one for £20. Had a few cheap ones off ebay and they broke so I decided to get a better one.

Plus one headphone extension cable (couple of quid if that, off ebay.)

Then add a mobile phone holder and then butcher it and turn it into a custom holder and your fine.

Forgot to get pics of my setup so I'll get some tomorrow when it's light.

I recently bought the Harmon Kardon drive + play off amazon for about £45. There is an option to plug the system straight into the aerial socket (need adaptors though). Quality is brilliant!! I think it works with the Ipod Touch aswell not sure coz ive got the old Ipod Video!

Finally got some pics although they're rubbish

FM transmitter is hidden in the glovebox and I've got the power and audio cables hidden behind the console/glovebox. All you see in the setup is the plug and about 10cm of cable.

Connects2 do an ipod link which uses fm but it's a wired connection, its called an iconnect fm not transmitted, basically your aerial goes into the box one side along with an ipod input and an aeriel output is the other side. You then set the box to broadcast at whatever signal you want, tune in and hey presto.

2nd one down on this page.

thats a pretty good idea. i would still rather use a USB or line in connection, as that method still doesnt get around the fact that FM transmissions have a limited bandwidth. still, if FM transmitters are the only option for you, then the direct connection is definately the best option.

If its a factory headunit, more than often an fm input is the only way. At least with the connects2 kit it's wired so you retain some SQ

Lets not get carried away people. Quality would be Kyle87's setup.
