i need to get my ciggy lighter working so i can use my sat nav, it just seems dead.
the light by it is still working but the lighter itself doesnt.

would it just be a fuse or something else?

Fuse 26

Reversing Lights Shouldnt Work Either

If you're reverse lights are working ok then it isn't the fuse as they share the same one.

ahh ok, i will check tommorow. thanks for that!

i know it sounds stupid but where would i get a fuse? i know they are cheap but there is a maplin in solihull but its just a ballache parking. you think b&q will do em singly?

halfords sell them lol. although the last 2 times i've been there to get a fuse, they haven't had the one i needed in stock. useless. :nono:

Can get the micro blades from esso petrol station as well but expect to pay £2 for 20 mixed fuses.

Oddjob posted somewhere that the ciggy lighter is connect to the BCM (Body Control Module) and if it doesnt work you may have screwed it up?! Worst case scenario and all.
I screwed the light in the ciggy lighter and it never worked after that.

well i got a replacement fuse from maplins, put it in and the ciggy lighter and reverse parking light are still not working. even got matt hill to check it for me aswell and couldnt see anyting wrong with where i had put the fuse like.

sure you changed the right fuse? lol

from memory.. the fuse you need to change is third row up from the bottom, and 2nd one in from the right, 20amp fuse.

nah i changed number 26, i think its like 2nd row from the bottom. the only fuse on that row and it was a 20a which was in there already. il have a look when its light tommorow.

i'm not 100% sure what i said is the right fuse

but when it happened to me, i looked where number 26 should be and i didn't even have a fuse there and it was a different 20amp one :?

just take out all the 20amp fuses one at a time and look to see if they are broke.

i looked and i had changed the wrong one last night :slap:

so replaced the blown fuse 26 with a new one, went into the car and had the engine on and presed the ciggy lighter and the new fuse had blown, tried it again with a new one and that blew.

im really unsure to what may be the problem as i have a car full of ice (2 amps powering a sub and comps) but am using a better battery than standard. im not sure if this has anything to do with it, but i hyave never messed with the ciggy lighetr before or the reverse parking light.

anyone have any suggestions at all to what may be wrong?

il just bump it for the morning, i hope somebody knows what it may be or what i should check as i dont want fuses to start blowing!

try a larger amp fuse, like 25 or 30.

i had this problem too! i couldn't work out which fuse it was and then i ended up fixing it by accident lol by randomly replacing the bigger (20a) fuses to see if they made a difference!

can you elaborate on that? like you just replaced the small blade fuse?

he means the really big fuses, on the right in the fusebox if you are looking from the front of the car.

i've replied to your pm mate!

basically i just replaced some of the blade fuses with new ones until it worked again!

instead of messing around changing all the fuses like that, i'd just use a test lamp to see if any of them aren't working.

test lamp:

The crocodile clip is the earth, you connect that somewhere and then put the end of the screwdriver on a connection to see if it is live, if it is, the end of the screwdriver will light up. you can put it on each side of a fuse and see if it lights up. if the one side lights up but the other doesn't, the fuse is broke.

well i went to crossroads garage on tamworth lane yday to ask for some fuses, and the bloke said that with using sat navs and stuff sometimes the lighter part welds together or something.

i havent reli got anything better to go on atm.
