i have a sony gt series H/U and about 6 months ago when i was fitting my sub and amp, i was pulling the H/U out and one of the red or yellow wires caught the cage and sparked. since then the H/u doesnt save any presets and resets itself everytime i turn off the car.

anyone know what i can do about it or do i just need a new loom?

i thought after 6 months i'd stop being lazy and do something about it:woops::lol:

you sure you just havent re-wired it back up different to how you had it wired before?
as in its now wired yellow to yellow and red to red.. which in with my HU resets the memory everytime i turn car off, hence most people swap red to yellow and yellow to red to avoid the memory being wiped?

thats what i would have guessed it as being. maybe you have blown something inside of it, its hard to tell tbh.

Swap the red and yellow wires round, should be on bullet connectors and this should sort the problem out, if not then a dunno :S lol

thats the problem, if i swich it round like that, it doesnt work at all, wheras it did before the sparking situation happened

put a multimeter on the red and yellow to see if you are actually getting a 12v supply

as you know one should be permanent and one should go live only when the ignition is on

if it shorted to the cage then you may have blown one of the fuses or even melted some wiring (happened to someone on here when it shorted) which could explain why you don't seem to be getting a supply

prob burnt the track out on the pcb inside the hu. if the live/sw live voltage is ok tbh

If it is burnt out its a repair or bin job

repair is about £40 notes in a shop or a drink if you know someone ;)

sounds like the perm live has either damaged on the loom or the PCB...

check the wiring from the loom side, make sure both yellow and red are getting a feed.... if either isnt (with the ignition on) then it could have shorted the loom...

out of interest, what year car is it as the canbus wiring system on the facelifts are an arse to sort out! lol

worse case, run a live feed from another device in the car and fuse inline....

canbus is easy to sort tbh just need a proper sw live from the fag lighter illum for the dimmer wire can also come from the fag lighter too

simple, if canbus disconnect the bullet connectors and link the yellow wire to the red and attach to red bullet connector.

so red and yellow is going into red bullet connector.

Will save settings and work.

any problems give me a pm.
