Hi guys,

So i got my DLS UP6i component speakers! but need abit of help fitting them in (job for tomorow), the thing is im not too sure of how to connect them up to the standard wiring without them bieing powered through amp.

Just abit confused with the standard speakers and how the tweets are connected etc.

Sound deadened inside of doors, and SS deadend the Door itself. got mdfs cut out, everythings ready to go but just the wiring im unsure about.

Its just till i get my DLS A3 Amp in couple weeks and i drill the holes in door etc.

can someone just tell me how to conect the cross over up using the Standard VX Wiring.. well all i need to know is which wires are the INPUT wires into the X-Overs.

Thanks

i had the impression of just connecting clips from the standard vx ones to ones you get or could get with your new ones.

hmm.. i think iv just realised how to do it... i need to find the two front speakers wire from the ISO Block that go into the vx wring loom and into a the mini x-over on the tweeters... but what colour are these wires?... forgot.

cut the wire going into the vaux woofer

this wire > good speaker wire > INPUT on crossover

Then TWEETER out on crossover > new tweeter

WOOFER out on crossover > to new woofer

Disconnect the wire from the tweeter and tape it away, you dont need the original wire going in to it.

oh ok, thanks joel, but "this wire > good speaker wire > INPUT on crossover"... why old speaker wire to good speaker wire then crossover rather than just striagh old wire to x-over?
does it make a diff to have it from good speaker wire from the ISO Block to the x-over??

doesn't unamping components mess them up
think i heard as they are so heavily underpowered they sound terrible

depends what they're rms and sensitivty is

theyll be fine for a while, but would need amping eventually as the voice coils could burn out I think.

The old wire you cut from the original woofer is thin and very short, making it hard to crimp or connect to the new crossover.

Just use a terminal block to connect some new speaker wire to it and give yourself more room to work with

Sensitivity is 88dB and they 150W RMS

Ooooffff, I'd amp them pretty sharpish!

They aint gonna like the 19wrms from the headunit!

dont rag them, let them settle, around 24 hours worth of playtime and they will be fine

damn, didnt no that, right iv managed to get a temp amp for now, a pioneer gm-3200T.

would this be ok to run for now or would this mess the coils up as well?

I thought that under powering the comps would simply have the same effect as turning the volume down.

Maybe i am missing something here but playing music quietly doesn't break your speakers?

yeh thats exactly what i thought..cos the instruction guide that came with the speakers says you can power them via HU or amp them,

the wattage will be mismatched

the cones wont move enough and this does them no good

It will not do an ounce of damage. The voice coils won't go or anything. Common misconception. Just don't turn the HU up to full as the internal amp will likely be clipping by then.
