I know some people might think this is a bit pointless but I'm thinking about fitting a start button to the dash somewhere. Anybody on here done it or know how tricky it is? Seems like a straight forward snip in the ignition wire?
I think its different for the C as its two stages or something.

Cheers, I new it wouldn't be as simple as I thought.
Anybody done this?

the problem with a start button is that a lot of people don't realize that you also need the key to get it started. therefore you sometimes get chavs breaking into cars to try the button!

 As stupid as that sounds I find the thought amusing.
Would something like this solve the problem?

to do it, you would have to still put the key into the second switch position and then press the engine start button. and split into the ignition cables. personally i cant see it being to hard to do once all the cables are identified. i wanted to do this but never actually got round to doing it. if your after an engine start switch, id go for the honda civic kit (the exact ones out of a new civic) there expensive at £50 but compared to the majority of switches, they look the best and also say "engine start" on them! and its got everything you need apparently

Found this diagram that simplifies it all...
Is it this easy? I'm assuming that you need to turn the key to position 2 and use the switch to get the engine started? Otherwise you can turn your key to position 3 and start it normally? Is this how it works?

looks something like that mate, it would all depend on the relay connections so you'd have to get one and check the instructions to get it switching correctly ect.
this is just and idea, try to get into the ignition barrel, in there id guess your going to have 3/4cables. If you was to use scotchlocks, and take the 12v supply from there to the button, and disconnect the cable that becomes live once the 3rd keyswitch is turned (ignition) and take that to the button it should work
to sum up, disconnect the cable that is on the 3rd barrel turn, and take to the switch (this way the switch is acting as if your actually turning the key but your pressing a button instead) and split into the 12v cable and take to the button.

Think the ignition barrel is really hard to access, I've had a look before but it's an idea.
Somebody must've done this and be able to give me a clue?
