View Full Version : Viper 460vx install help
Ive just brought a Viper 460vx alarm, with proxy sensors off ebay (cos im a tight ass and dont want to pay for fitting) can anyone tell me where their sensors are fitted, where the control box is mounted, and if their is any proper installation guys out there, can it be DIY programed to alow total closure ect (it might say in the manual but i havent recived it yet).
P.S i know it voids the thatch 1ness but it would only knock a tenner of my insurence so tbh i dont care too much :p.

ive got teh 480 version so its practically the same thing
the proxy sensor (a see thru box for the viper/directed electronics range) is placed (on mine) in the roof lining towards the front of the car. where the light is, thats where they placed it. it can also, and is better supposedly, placed in the center tunnel where the handbrake is.
the ultrasonic sensors (the ones that look like mini speakers and there should be 2 of them) are screwed to the top of the plastic pillars near the windscreen. u no the creamish coloured long rectangles that can pull off. they go there.
the main unit, the big black box, has been placed were the glovebox is. take out the glovebox and look into the space. u should see a metal bar. its screwed onto that. my car doesnt have a passenger airbag, so i duno if theres the space if u have an airbag there, but check around that sort of area.

oh and the programming has to be done with a viper bitcoder i think its called. its about 50 quid and can be bought on ebay. OOORRRRR install it urself then take it to a shop that deals with viper. they will code it for 20 quid or so
you, my friend are a life saver :) could be a few hours work for an amature like me, (and a few days to wire it in) but im determined to install it myself.
Mine on the 480vx is in the roof lining, its can be put under the gearstick gaiter.
