Hey. Been trying to get my headunit out for weeks now, it literally will not budge. Standard factory fitted headunit. Got the little pin thingies from Halfords, push them in and they just come straight back out. Did a search but couldn't find anything hadn't already tried. Changed interior bulbs today so had the vents out above it and it just won't come out. Didn't really want to damage it getting it out but I just don't know what to do! Any ideas? :(

Have you put them in at the same time, as i had this problem also try twiggling them about inside, in the end it will all pop out

My brother, my dad, my boyfriend and me have all tried doing this, it does not budge at all!

Push them both in together, nice n level, once they're in push them apart from each other, so left one to the left and right one to the right, and then pull back with them whilst pushing them apart. Should work for you ;)

Honestly, it's not just me being thick and not using the thingies right. My dad is a mechanic, he knows what he's doing and he can't even get it out. Need radical ideas here!
They can be a real pain in the ass to get out my mate had to get VX to remove his and they damaged the dash! I got mine out after lots of swaering and pulled the front off it lol
Sledgehammer :look:
Depends on if your planning on keeping it or not
Try getting something flat and wedging it out?
Luckily mine came out with the pin straight away :)

How much will VX charge to get it out?

That is the worst assumption ever, in my experience if you take a mechanic they are a complete nightmare with ICE and the like, worse than a newb sometimes. Likewise if you are ICE orrientated you can't do anything mechanical (like myself who struggled doing a panel filter)

Prob more than you would want to pay, think they would just charge the labour time it takes to do it

Lol, its only taking a headunit out, even i've done it before. It shouldn't be so difficult :(

Nip yourself down to halfords, bat your eyelashes and its done FOC

They arent catching on the clips to release them, when they go in do they go all the way in, all the way down to the handle?

Lol, I doubt it. Tbh dad, brother and bf are all what i'd call experienced with cars and if they can't do it, how will a Halfords bloke do any better?
Take it to the zoo, the animals would do better job than halfords!

Yeah, they go in all the way, catch a bit then pop straight out again. And have done every time of about a million times i've tried lol.

Because sometimes if you're lucky they will have an actual specified fitter who does nothing but release stereo's all day long. Also the tools they sell to do them aren't the ones they use to remove the stereo's themselves, the ones they use are mre like a metal rod rathan than metal wire.
Honestly if worst come to worst, get a girly friend and go down to one, and act all "damsel in distress" guarantee stereo is out within 10 minutes.

Lol! It may well come to that!
if it goes straight in andthe removal pins are not bent then you should make sure you pull away to the left and right for the pins to clip onto the old hu so they will grip!!! then you just pull it out with not much force!!!
go to halfords and say you want a new stereo if thy can get the old one out, get them to take it out and then say you left your purse at home ^_^

I had difficulty getting my HU out the 2nd time (put back to standard once lol) took alot of forcing it was caught on the cage, i pushed the HU removal keys in and used a screwdriver on the edge to prise it away gentle done this around the HU and after a while it just popped out...

what about some sort of dent remover sucker tool, sink unblocker to aid?
shame they don't have a tape player u could get your fingers in & pull it out easy

Tape player came out easily on mine, I used barbeque skewers and stuck my fingets in the gaps. However the CD player was harder - I took out the vent thing above and used a screwdriver to pull forward the slots in the CD player chassis and that did the trick. Taking out the glove box might help but I couldn't get myself in a good enough position to make it workable - 2 people would have been better.
Let's just say vx like making their HUs a stiff fit!

Take it you've only ever taken 2 VX stereo's out then??
VX stereos are easy unless you get a pig. I've done so many so quickly it's unreal.
This stereo out yet??
