Well i recently put my hand in my pocket and brought an upgrade from my standard digi cam and got my hands on a Nikon D40 with 18-55mm lens. I study several photography modules at uni so it was about time for an upgrade. For the money the cam is mint, really happy with it and had a lill experiment with some long exposures on friday nite on my way to a m8s.
This is my first attempt at a shot like this but i had a 25s 35/f exposure and apperture setting and a bog standard tripod.
Happy with the results but if ne1 can recommend some better settings for the shot that will create a better photo I am all ears and wanting to learn, lol. I know both shots are very similar but just wanted to show a few examples and really encourgae ne1 to offer me some diff settings to get different sorts of shots, so don't be shy....

IMO, I think the shutter should have been over a shorter time, so it didn't let in as much light from the headlights, or keep the 25 second limit, and maybe use sidelights, so they aren't as bright.

Good shots otherwise though!
