View Full Version : Custom Boot build - Design help please!
Ok, I'm looking to build a custom boot build, but I'm not very good with drawing/measuring/wood work/maths..
So there are a few minor issues... but i'll get there ;)
Seriously though, how have you guys planned these things - I'm finding it hard getting a nice size box which looks nice, has the right angles etc but also has the right size for the sub ( i mean the volume of air behind it )
Anyone got any tips for this?
cheers,
Sean
Build your own. The specs for your sub should have a recommended size which you seem to have. From there you can calculate the size of box exactly and make a custom one to fit your build exactly.

say what kash, thats what the thread is about! :) but how do you calculate the volume of air needed when you have loads of angles in the sub box ?
Also, anyone have the dimensions for the Corsa boot?
Clickety click on the search, and this is what appears:

Also, use your carpet as a template for size, or lift it out and measure that to make it easier.

touche kash, but .. clikety click on the link and this is what appears:

David, you remember where you got that link from???
He probably made the link up for a laugh.
Ah well, guess ill just attempt to carve some kinda crazy box from a tree and see what happens... thats right, a TREE - no half assed MDF **** goes down in my house... Now, where was my axe?
nah, that one worked - full of spam/viruses no doubt. but atleast it worked.
Diddon, take a leaf outta sicky's book mate - infect our pooters with spyware and the likes. Don't give us dead links! :)

Dave from Utopia Audio has just signed up... as 'troublemaker'. He is very, very knowledgeable, don't be frightened to ask him questions on here.
I am sure that as Dave has been in the industry / competition scence for a number of years now, he will be more than willing to help, especially if you tell him you are going to be having the kit Utopia Import in your car!

I had this problem when I was thinking of building my boot install. The best tips I could offer would be to start off with a simple idea and work from that. Then get some old cardboard boxes, cut them up and use them to make the boot install. Once you have the design you want, use the pieces of cardboard as templates to cut out the wood. Hope this helps
Thats exactly what ive been doin!
Cardboard is ace!
Ste
i just dived in the deep end and started chopping up wood
me and kash used cardboard templates :)
