Ok so my new Alpine type s components arrived this morning. So i started fitting at about 10.30am and have spent until now doing it and stil arnt finished!

Everything was going well until i tested the drivers side woofer, which once turned up just over halfway somthing strange happens and i have no idea why. It only happens occasionally but when it does its scary.

What happens- once at a certain volume the speaker cone sometimes plugnes out and goes back in really quickly and makes a sort of 'pop' sound, and at the same time all the other speakers in the car 'pop' as well.

The passenger side woofer has been wired in exactly the same way, however appears to be fine.

I thought it mite have been a bad earth however the speaker terminals shouldn't be touching anything now as i have bent them away from the door itself.

Any ideas ppl? I am very confused about this one.

Cheers

Dave

Ok, firstly recheck check that the connections are correct i.e. check that the Positive and negative are connected to the same terminals on both speakers.

Secondly, check that your speaker terminals really aren't shorting out against the door.
Take both speakers out of the door, and then turn it up to where the problem happens.

If it is still a problem, connect your old speaker in the place where the alpine is causing a problem. Check if it happens again.

If it still happens, let me know.

It would work, they'd just be out of phase.

its ok m8, they are working now....turns out the speaker 'popped' when the tweeter wasnt connected, but once it was connected they worked fine.
