Canon EOS 400D

I have had this camera with the standard lens for months now and really am wanting to get into my photography and learn some good tips and get some good shots but I dunno where to start. Firstly, I keep seeing all these threads about shooting in RAW but I dunno how to set it up to shoot in RAW, can anyone advise me? Also, are there any good websites to learn some tips from?

You can chance the picture settings under the menu settings on the camera.
