Hey all.
I am going to make a ported box for my 12" Alpine type R.
From the manual it says 1.7ft volume.
Im going to make mine 1.75ft, and will be porting it to 36hz.
Does this sound reasonable?
What is the best type of port? a round one, or a slot?
Thanks

Ide run the box bigger than that, at least 2.5cuft! as the port will take up displacement.

For that kinda space ide run a 4 inch aeroport or if you do use a slot ide stick to around 25 sq inches of port area!
Its easier with a Aeroprt though, 4 inches round, if you decide on a box size giz a shout and ile work out your port!, BTW dont tune to 36 hz as its too high IMO tune around 30 ish!

If your tottally mad tune around 25 hz for ultra wobblyness!

Will quite happily plot you a Cabinet dude!

Thanks.
I don't really want a box that big,as i sold my boot build a while ago for a smaller box as i need the bootspace.

Im going to make a wedge box, and iv worked out the dimensions using an online calculatorso that the volume is 1.8ft and the back will sit against the rear seats perfectly:

Will this be good enough?

Are those internal dimensions ?

If not could you quote internal so i can work it out!

Nah they will be external.
I don't know what thickness mdf ill be using yet though.
but if i say 3/4? does that help.
I used this http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp
and it said the volume will be 1.8ft when using 3/4.

just measure your internals

widthxheightx depth divided by 1728 = cuft

if your porting it the port will also take up displacement , i wouldnt bother porting umder 2.5cuft TBH!

Yer u said earlier, but again i dont want a huge box.
This is about the maximum i want to make it.

I cant measure it because its not made yet.
I won't be making it for another month or so.
