Night Shots

Hey, just woundering if anyone has any tips for the night shots, when i leave the camera on long exposure i always seam to get a orange sky as well, i know this is from the light polution but i ahve seen a lot of pictures taken in long exposure mode and they have perfectly black skys, what settings would you use to take a nice shot of a town at night

How long are you exposing the picture for?

About 45 seconds, the picture it self looks really good but, everything is in different shades of orange, which doesnt look so good =)

What ISO setting you on?

shoot in raw and fix the white balance in photoshop

45 seconds will seem a bit bright depending on the ISO level and what appeture you use....

Was going to suggest using a shorter time, as it may be letting in too much light?
