Why don't you both offer different pack deals???

Richard is going to work out some special packages specially for offer on Corsa C for us all.

All sales will be direct with him, so once I know what the packages are, I will just put a post in the Members Offers section on behalf or Richard.

He doesn't sell anything else other than Meguairs and as he is a direct dealer for them the prices should be very good.

ive tried 3 megiuars products so far

gold class shampoo...gr8
tyre gel...gr8
bug and tar remover..give it a miss, more expensive than autoglym, and doesnt perform half as well

Richard
11-06-2005, 00:39
You say the bug and tar doesn't perfom well next to the autoglym, please explain why you think this.

As i found the autoglym products to be extreme hard work to use and you use twice the amount.

Jason
11-06-2005, 00:45
right i thought id try megiuars because the other 2 i tired was good, but the bug and tar remover just doesnt work, u spray loads on it, and u still have to scrub to get little bits off, i gave up in the end and left it...where as auto glym, i remember driving on a road that had just been layed with tarmac..had it all under the bumper. i used auto glym then and it just wiped off much easier..so next time i shall be using auto glym tar remover

Richard
11-06-2005, 00:52
I see... What you have to remember though you have used it in 2 different circumstances. From what i can make of it you used the meguiars on tar that was on there for sometime and there for yes you will need to scrub with some force to remove the contaminents, where as you used the autoglym on tar that was fresh which would come off easier not matter what you used on it, including hot water and a car shampoo. So from what i can see in my eyes this is an unfair test.

Jason
11-06-2005, 01:29
that was just a simple comparison, i can see ur point, defendind the product that u sell, but imho autoglym tar remover is better

I think each person has their favourite brand that they use.

Personally, I have never tried Meguairs. Am sure Richard will do a demonstration for me one week!

I have been using AutoGlym lately and the paint revovator has just worked a treat on the 'graffitti' and paint spillage on my stolen/recovered Corsa B. I have left a little patch just in case Richard can get round here with the meguairs kit... now there is a challenge!

Before using Autoglym I used to always use MER. Like said above, wash the car, apply the MER was (whilst car is still wet!) and then polish off once dry. Does give a showroom finish.

I like meguiars but when i used the wax, it leaves oily marks oil over my car (its black saphire). No oe else seems to have this problems, i dunno why this happens :S

Which cloth are you using? Meguiars is very dependent on the clothes that you use (im not just saying because i sell it). I used to get the "oily marks" when using a bog standard cloth, then i got hold of the ultimate wipe and now i dont get any marks unless i hit a bit of water from the seals.

I used to use autlgylm quite a few years ago but when i heard about max pooer doing an open day for a powerflow store in devon i went down, and saw the meguiars being used for the first time. The bloke made it look easy then i bought some and it really is easy to use. People say its expensive and in the short run it is, but i ask the people of this forum.

How much polish do you go through a year?

I ask this because im still on my first bottle of NXT generation wax from last summer, and thats polishing near enough every weekend since i got it. so thats less than 14 quid thats lasted me over a year.

David
11-06-2005, 17:08
agree with Richard just finished my first bottle of NXT lasted about 9/10 month and thats waxing 3 cars

ka$h
11-06-2005, 17:08
^^^ Good point Richard. I found that applying most car care products with a sponge is the way forward. Cloths are poor at application in comparison. Never tried the ultimate bonet, but will soon, either yourself or a show vendor will sell me one at discount

As for use, I have too much polish, and it's taking me ages to move all my products across to meguiars, cos you really don't use all that much

K

Richard
11-06-2005, 17:19
I dont use the cloth to apply the wax i use it to take the wax off. I use the applicatot pads to apply, similar to a sponge but not so abrassive.

Also did you know that 90% of swirl marks are caused by the sponge, mainly when used for washing. The reason for this is the dirt gets trapped on surface of the sponge, even after you have dunked it in the water.

I've got a bottle of the gold class shampoo, a tub of the gold class paste wax and that QuickClay stuff. What else from the Meguiars range should I be looking at buying to really get the paint shining again this summer? Cars just over a year old now and hasnt been polished or waxed since last summer! :p

Richard
12-06-2005, 13:07
I would advise that you used the body scrub to pull all the contaminents out the paintwork. I find the quickclay is better used on small areas.

What colour is the car?

npatchett
12-06-2005, 13:11
Its Ultra Blue mate.

Richard
12-06-2005, 13:15
Sorry for being completely thick but is that a dark or pale blue? Im not overly sure on the newer Vauxhall colours.

If its a pale blue then i would deffinetly recomend the NXT generation polish, to deepen and darken the paint work. If its a dark blue then i'd probably go for the stage 2 and 3.

npatchett
12-06-2005, 13:23
Its a dark blue colour. That body scrub stuff sounds good.

You might be able to advise on another car issue. My dads got a 2004 Honda Accord in a light silver metallic colour. Someone has scratched one of the rear doors and its not a deep scratch but at the same time its not a light mark if you know what I mean. Would Scratch X be the best thing to buy or is there something better?

Richard
12-06-2005, 15:09
Without seeing it i cant say, but saying that, if you run your thumb nail over it can you feel it as though it were a groove? If so then it will be hard to take out, if, on the other hand it just feels like a light scratch(very little/no groove) then the scratch-x will do just the job. You dont need lots either just a very small amount and worked in should do it. Hope this helps

I wash my car in the Jet wash, take it home...when it drys i just use the turtle Wax in a green bottle? is that shyt ne good? or shud i switch to Meguiar's???

Meguiar's has so many types of wax..which ones the best :S

Richard
12-06-2005, 15:32
With out sounding byast but yes that turtle wax is pretty s**t. Infact the only use i found for it was when i used to ski.

As for the meguiars there are many types of polish. There Gold Class polish was there best seller back in 03. Its very easy to use and gives good results. There carnuba wax is just amazing really but is best used when in conjunction with the stage 1 and 2.

There latest polish which is apart of there NXT Generation range Is again simply amazing ands lasts for a long length of time. I haven't polished my car for 3 weeks now and people say " Wow have you just polished it?" My answer is no wash it once a week and not polished for about 3 weeks.

to apply the nxt generation tech wax i use the sponge it came with and to wipe off i use a 100% terry cloth

i also am now finding that sometimes on the bonnet i'm getting sort of dull patches that dont seem to shine up
i could do with knowing how to get my car back to scratch to polish up as i'm sure the missis doing it one weekend has screwed it up!!! lol
all i'm using at the mo is the wash and then the wax (i mentioned earlier) at the minute no polish but how easy is the polish to do?
another question is i have a bugger of a tree (well there's about 3 massive ones) overhanging the driveway and sap gets all over the car and also leaves and crap, whats best to combat this

Personally i'd ditch the terry towel, i dont think much to them unless using them to wipe up the "oily" patches. use the ultimate wipe clothes as these are much better. i sell these for £9. As for the dull patches, try the the stage 1 body scrub. But it sounds like your not getting polish onto these areas hence the dull patches. But im only going by what im reading in your post.

Mark has recomended the best way to prevent against all contaminents when not being driven.

Yes wayne the cloth is for removing the polish and wax.

FAYO if you are not currently using meguiars but would like to start using it, may i suggest the buckets. They consist of

1 Wash mitt

1 Bottle of GC shampoo

1 bottle of GC liquid wax

1 Bottle of Endurance tire shine

1 Bottle of Quick detailer

1 Bottle of Hot rims wheel cleaner.

The RRp on all of this is £34.99 and im doing this for £32.00. You will need to buy the applicator pads and a polishing cloth seperatly for this though.

i'm thinking a pack along the lines of
Ultimate wash mitt
foam applicater pad (2 pack)
pack of cloths (whichever you reccomend)
Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner - 1892ml
step 1 - Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
Step 2 - Deep Crystal Polish
Step 3 - Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax

or maybe a pack without the washing bit in for those who just polish and wax

Foam Applicator Pad (twin pack)
Cloths again (whichever you reccomend)
Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner
NXT Tech Protectant
NXT Tech Wax Paste
STEP 2 – Deep Crystal Polish
