Wouldnt use pressure washer on car really, sometimes (depending upon end used) they can be a little too powerful,

On standard I would say your stickers dont stand a chance.

Pressure Washers are quick yet destructive. They will remove paint and other items from the car witohout hesitation. Car washers will use them for speed, and don't really care about others property, and basically when you get them to do it, you are waivering any claim of damage against them.

I really don't understand why people can't take no more than 5 minutes extra to do it with a bucket and sponge which treats your car a lot better, and gives better results anyway :?

Your car is usually the second biggest investment you make next to a house, so why would you want to risk damaging it :?

I really don't understand some people.....

I use a pressure washer (only small one with low pressure) and have neva had a problem! My stickers are still firmly in place!

Used a pressure washer on every car.

Never had a problem either! Don't judge it unless you've tried it.

Can't see how the paint would come off... You're meant to hook it up to a water supply, not a bloody acid tank.

Just look at GR44's car for proof of damage to paintwork. If you want to use one, feel free, but don't come whingeing here looking for sympathy as you just won't get it

i just use my pressure washers to get rid of suface dirt, wash it with a sponge then i rinse it with the pressure washer but i dont hold it near the car. Basically just mist it over.

I do as above - surely takin a a wet sponge to paint will scratch paint as the sponge catches all the abrasive ****e whereas a pressure washer would remove most of that before hand :?

+ the paints got an anti-perforation warranty - and VX say its ok to use a pressure washer so if the paint falls off - i think a trip to VX is in order don't u?

You hose it off first to remove the larger more abrasive lumps, well you should anyway.

Nope, the body work has an anti perforation warranty, and painted plastic parts aren't covered. Use of a pressure washer the dealer will tell you is not their problem, and will charge you for a repair.

i think ot will be fine unless you use a powerfull one like what they use to clean patio's but generally speaking i would prefer a bucket and sponge, kash is rite, the results are better and it is kinder to your car :D

I use hands, does a good job if not.. better than pressure washers and 10x more efficient :D.

For some who get up close and personal with there pressure washer nozzle then hell yeh... u might discover peeling on your paint work. I'd only used a pressure washer for insides of wheel arches.

One should use the two bucket method ;)

Don't worry, i will never need to, and i doubt after you spending 8 hours washing your car with a hose pipe you'll be too tired to hear about it

damage caused by a pressure washer is cuz they use the wrong kinda head. if its a focused jet it will probs damage it.bt the ones we use at work are fine cuz they spread the jet into a wide fan.

tbh ive not had any trouble with mine, an in the karcher book that came with it, it suggests holding it at least 1-2ft away from the body work at all times. Used them before to remove stickers and company logos from vans - dont want to get caught doing favours!

Rite, if u use a pressure washer on to higher temperature setting and too close to the paintwork it will take the lacquer off.. so u may not notice it at first but it wil eventually.. even at a low temperature and from a distance it will start to take ur laquer off just slower than above.. plus it will take off ne polish u have put on therefore makin ur paintwork less waterproof which cud cause an increase in the chances of rust.. u will notice paintwork on cars that are looked after and polished well there will be bubbles of water wen it rains that sit on the paintwork.. this is good becoz it means the water is not seaping into the paintowrk... whereas cars that have little water that sits on top of the paintwork therefore means it has seaped in..

My recommendation... only use pressure washers on inside of arches to get rid of mud and crap.. and if daring enough to play wiv electrics and spark plugs the engine bay area..

*Please note this whole article is only my point of view! You do not have to follow any of my advice!

I have a pressure washer sat in a cupboard here at home, used it when we had the corsa-b's (actually.. have my corsa B back so it will be coming out again!) but I won't use it on the Corsa C.

We stopped using the pressure washer on k's old corsa B after it took off some on the paint on the Fiest MK4 spoiler on it.

http://justus3.co.uk/Pages/mkcruise/ks_corsa/spoiler2.jpg

The white paint came off all on one side, revealing the red paint colour that it once was!

Hand washing your Corsa C and waxing it will give you better satisfaction than just having some roadside car wash lad jet wash the car. They do it day in day out as a job, so attention to detail is not as good as if you do it yourself.

I'll be long finished while you are either a) maoning to vaux about paint that has come off, or, b) replacing all the polish/wax/lacquer you have just stripped off :P
