View Full Version : wiring up amp to standard HU

i just bought a CBR12 evo sub box and am going to wire it up to the standard HU, ive bought the RCA adapter that appantly i will need just need to know where to wire it up to on the HU as my mate said that i could do it off the rear speaker wires any help?

The RCA Adapter will need speaker level inputs to convert the signal. Your mate is right, take these from the rear speakers. You will also need to tell the amp when to turn on by using a remote lead wired to something that only sends current when the HU is switched on. I think the switched live (yellow wire) will be alright for this. If someone could verify, that'd be helpful.

im going to be doing this latert today so i would like confirmation to which wire to connect it to and either to cut n attach to the remote wire or jus tap into it so i gota connection..

ids it possible to tap into the rear speaker wires so i could keep them runnin jus wondering incase when car gets sold no1 will kno ;)

right i have now done this an after 5 hours got it working :) i tapped into the rear speakers for my RCA to be joined to then the BLUE wire i used for the remote output for the sub

Do you mind posting a step by step guide on how to do it? i want to wire my sub and amp upto my standard headunit but i don't have a clue how to do it.

Would be so much more beneficial in the long run if you just got a decent head unit. Especially if your planning on building on the system

Im not planning on building the system just want a nice sub for abit of bass. Want to keep the standard HU to keep it looking tidy.

Get a new head unit or it will sound gash!

Besides, with a new head unit the sound quality is improved ten-fold even before you get the sub/amp hooked up! ;)
