Not a stupid question if you've never done it before. Quick q's
What is currently in the 'input'
What is currently in the 'speaker'
What is currently in the 'tweeter'

currently, in the input is the feed from the head unit, in the speaker is wires to the speaker, and the same to the two tweeters...

Okay, disconnect the speaker wire from the headunit to the input, leave them hanging, and replace it with the speaker wire from the amplifier.

ah ok, so join the headunit input to the speaker, then the input becomes the amps power, thanks ryan! :)

edit: readin your post again, im confused, where does the input go in? otherwise the speaker wont be able to play anything...

as in, where does the speaker get its info from? i.e what to play?
because you said to leave the headunit data cable hanging..

on the 'input' is were you plug in speaker cable coming from the amplifier, NOT the headunit.

The headunit connects to the amp, the amp then connects to the crossover, then from there you have a connection to the mid and the tweeter.

ah right yes lol, me being an idiot,
and the input from the headunit to the amp is from?
as in can i take it from the rear speaker cable, or do i have to run the headunit wires form the front speakers to the amp?
god this makes me feel like an idiot! :(

We all start somewhere mate,
The inut to the amplifier will be using a set of RCA cables from the headunit that then plug into the amplifier on the input.

How have you wired up the amp, any pics?

atm i dont have the amp, im picking it up tomoz, i have a crappy mutant sub n amp in the boot atm, not connected, but thinking of selling, as when i did, it was really underpowered
do all headunits have the rca cable connections on the back, as mines a pretty basic, sony one, it has no sub pre out.... i could wire it up to the mutant amp now, then change the sub over tomorrow...

Answers in the question surely? Input for the amp is from the headunit.

You need to run wires from the following:
Battery to amp
Earth to chassis
Phono to headunit (gives the amp the info of what to process)
Remote from headunit to amp (tells the amp to turn on and off)
Speaker wire to crossover box from amp (which you have pictured)
Speaker wire from crossover box to speakers, (tweeters and mids)

whats the options? or is a new headunit the only?
if so i dont wanna spend loads, im already in £400 of debt lol, all it needs to do it play mp3 cds (dvd's if poss) and have a sub output and the connections needed for the components to be amped...
wish i researched this before i bought that one!
