i only got 2 half decent ones from the night me and crossy went to the high level bridge, and even this has been shopped to hell

cant decide if it looks good, or whether the red and saturated colour makes it look overdone

Not a fan of edits like that myself, but it looks alright. Good subject, good composition etc.

Got my Nikon D80 a few days ago.
At the moment it just has a Nikkor DX VR 18-55mm lens, but (hopefully) I'll be getting a Sigma 55-200mm f4/5.6 DC HSM lens from Santa.

Going to invest in a semi-carriable tripod, and when I can afford one, a fish-eye lens. What other things would people recommend getting, ie lenses/flashguns/filters etc

Here is a few taken over the last 2 days... (please bear in mind I am new to SLR photography, so tips/advice, recommendations or constructive criticism would be welcome)

At the moment, I haven't really taken many photos on any mode other than Auto or Macro, but we're still reading our way through the camera manual, so we'll be getting more experienced over Christmas.

the last flower ones looks really good, i have a D80 too and find myself always using the aperture mode (A) and adjusting the settings manually until they are right. as for equipment, id the thing ive found pretty useful is an external flash, pretty expensive but can create some mint shots, oh and a wireless remote would be good too, they are fairly cheap

Yeah over Christmas I'm going to be reading the manuals front to back, and generally just experimenting too.

This the kind of external flash you're on about? -

Yeah until I get a wireless remote I'm going to have to settle for timer.

yeah thats the sorta thing im talking about, although id probably save up another £20 or £30 and get yourself a proper nikon one, i dont know how reliable the jessops ones are but my nikon SB-600 is amazing quality, can get one second hand for about £120, join talkphotography forum and look in the for sale section, some good deals come around now and again.
also, i never hardly use my wireless remote, usually just use a 2 second timer, but theres times when the remote is more handy, should be able to pick one of those up for £15-£25

Get Lightroom!

It's so easy to edit photo's with that, as it's just sliders etc, as opposed to Photoshop going into various menu's for various things. The editing features are all there for you on the right hand side.
