Just got in touch with local ice place, they reckon the problem I'm having with my sub is definitely to do with interference, said it would probably be solved by a ground loop isolator or improved wiring.

I'd rather upgrade the wiring than go with the isolator if I can, so how much should I be expecting to pay for a high quality shielded RCA wire that won't be affected?

My RCA's cost £100 :| Made by Streetwirez and are very good imo. Gold plated etc etc. But they can cost alot less than that.

Bloody hell I should hope so

 What's the least I can get away with for one that won't have a problem with interference?! ;)

I paid £30 - £40 if I remember rightly for mine, gold plated etc. Its imperative you use good wires. Its no good spending loads of money on your speakers and amps and then using crapy wires. Also run yor rca's down one side of your car and the power down the other, no interferance that way.

All this has been done, moved earth, replaced RCA with higher quality, nothing works - tried a ground loop isolator which just got rid of the interference but in turn stopped any bass getting through at all. Local ice place is stumped, so am I - looks like I'll have a sub up for sale

Earth is fine, on the seat bracket like most other peoples. Uprated what exactly - and what's a bell wire? Do you mean the power?

even with ****e cables you should still be able to hear something. From what you have said it seems to be set up ok mate, almost exactly how i have done mine. Do any of your mates have any subs or anythin that you can test? That way you can see if its your wiring or the equipment?

You can hear something, the bass works but there's just ****loads of interference. The thing I was talking about where it goes totally blank is if you attach the ground loop isolator.

and no, no way of trying out another sub or mine in another system right now.
