View Full Version : Another Dead Xbox 360 :(
Hi all!
My xbox 360 has just died on me :( rang up microsoft and they said that my warrenty had been extended to 3 years :D as it is a common fault!!! Got the three lights thing (ring of death). I have got to box it up (not allowed any microsoft name or logo on the box for some strange reason), then i got to ring up UPS i think it was, to get it collected, 2-3 weeks to get repaired :D i nearly went out and bought a new one :D sooo glad i didnt lol.
So for the people that this has happened to? did they fix the problem? did they send you your one back? a different one? a brand new one? because you read on the internet and they dont always send you the right one back :S
Matty
In theory you should now have your mobo replaced with a new 65nm set and this will not have the problem anymore.

mine went today as well. Should have waited for a PS3 tbh.
my elite came back a few weeks ago.
and because it has a black case it shows marks..
well it was practically brand new.
when i got it back, its now covered in scratches and scuffs. not to mention the tons of greasy finger prints all over it.
well i phone up microsoft, and i told them i wanted to make a complaint.
the put me on hold, and after a minute of 2 they hung up on me.
they did this twice.

its ment to fix it for a little amount of time, but i would rather send it off to Microsoft to do what they need to do to it to fix it!

ive got to say that when mine got the ring of death they where excellent they even droped it off at work for me when it was fixed =D
I gave up with Xbox.
I got that ring of death thing 4 times! Each time they sent me a new machine, each time they all broke.
Sold the last one before it broke
After all of that pissing around, all they sent me out of gratitude was a letter and a £20 game lol.

Yeah i've had ring of death 3 times now, but tbf each time i've sent it off, only took a week to repair so not bad at all really ... but shouldn't be breaking in the first place!!

Mine broke after very nearly 3 years. Sent it off and they just sent a brand new 360 out, took 1-2 weeks tops. Haven't had the problem since. It is kept flat (best position) and not surrounded by anything either, so it gets the air it needs to suck in.
The 360 ring of death is common, but the ps3 is hardly great either. Two people I know have had theirs break in the first month. It seems that faulty consoles are a problem everybody has to put up with, unless you just buy and PC which only fail when the owner fails.
I wouldn't try fixing it using the towel method tbh. Thats the same as having a flat tyre and instead of getting it fixed, just pump it up everyday instead !
