laptop goin crazy

hi all

got a new laptop at christmas, its a compaq presario v6000. and all of a sudden my touch pad is goin crazy. it wont let me control it and its doin its own thing. then all of a sudden it stops and lets me use it again and then starts again. basically it just moves all over the screen even when im not touching the touchpad.

any ideas what the problem is and how much it would be to sort it, its driving me crazy!!!

Go into Control Panel > Mouse > Hardware Tab > Properties Button > Drivers Tab. Can you update them or re-install?

Maybe there is something underneath the pad (inside the laptop) which is causing it to do it. I haven't really got a clue what it might be if it isn't a dodgy driver. Take it back.
