well, since coming back from holiday a few weeks back, ive noticed that the laptop gets very hot and seems to peform strangely.

say im on the autotrader, and i click an ad, it wont let me open the ad. no error message appears but its like it getting blocked. say i refresh then page a few times, it will let me, but if i want to enlarge an image, its the same problem. sometimes rather than opening a new window, it will appear in the same window.

the heat gets so much i can really feel it on my legs a lot.

its getting really annoying and im close to spilling orange juice over it so insurance will pay out. however, im going to have to find out what would replace it (whateverhappens - currys).

it was a great laptop before and worked super, but now its just pissing me off.

same with my windows laptop.

Could be that one of the fans have packed up? or more likely that the software that controls the system is corrupt.

You could try a total reinstall of the OS and any pre installed toshiba software.

Go here http://pack.google.com/intl/en-gb/pack_installer_new.html?hl=en-gb&gl=uk&utm_campaign=en_gb&utm_source=en_gb-ha-emea-uk-google&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=google%20pack&ciNum=12 and tick just Spyware Doctor (free from google pack) and run a full scan of that, it is by far the most extensive spyware remover made. If you can format and re-install windows, then thats better obviously.

Failing that, open the laptop and using a small headed paint brush to clean dust and stuff off the fans. Remove fans from heatsinks and clean the heatsinks also.

If its a sealed unit and will void warranty, then your better off dropping the laptop from your sealing and claiming accidental damage on it (say you tripped over and fell on it)

Or get a vac out and give a good vacuuming, ideally you should give it good vacuuming every 6 months or something.

yeah my laptop started to overheat and freeze quite rapidly
i managed to get to the heat sink by the fan and cleant about 2mm of compacked dust and crap that the laptop has sucked in.
worked fine after that
