I have the fusion twin 12" package which i think its pretty good allthough i havnt heard anyone elses subs yet.. its heavy at 35kg and takes up my entire boot which is kinda anoying. Im thinking of getting 1 powerful 12" sub to replace it that weighs less and takes up less room, was thinking one of these 2,

would i notice these being much more powerful? ofc i would get an amp to match them, or use my 1500w loudest.com amp mabye..

Something like this would do the trick http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ascendant-audio-havoc-p-6712.html
Powered by an amp like this http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dynamics-s1200d-p-5535.html
or this http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/classic-cad11-p-5084.html
or this if you are on a tighter budget http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/jbl-gto14001-p-6738.html .
In the end it's down to the budget you have.
i have a sub & amp for sale :)
This man sells Alpine at good prices i think:

do i really need to spend that much on an amp? would that audiobahn one i listed before be better than the fusion twin i have now?
for £300 you can have a directed electronics amp (RRP £300) and an oz matrix elite 12" sub with box :)
how do you know of those subs above will be more bassier than my current one? really need to know this. My fusion vibrates the whole car like mad, i want this or more from a 12" single!

A lot of it will come down to the box you put it in mate.
how about reverse subs? do they sound the same? how do you know what kinda box to put it in for it to be good :s boxes are really cheap
If by reverse you mean mount it magnet out, this just has the effect of larger box volume. In order to know what volume the sub needs and the best type of enclosure for it, you will have to either go through all of the sub's stats and enter them into a box making program, speak to the manufacturers of the sub or speak to someone who knows box design well.
You could also consider having ported rather than sealed as this creates more wobble with lower power (not the case with all subs and all ported boxes though). What kind of music do you listen to?
id go with orion, this is what im goin 4 next:

well the box they put in with that orion sub is just bog standard simple design.. so i would prob get a sub somthing like that mabye alpine type R? then phone around and find out what box will be good for it...
also what specs on the subs are the important ones? dba? sensitivity?
yes but if u want ground shakin bass u would go with the orion. anyway its not my choice, it urs mate
well that orion does look quite good :)) theres quite a few nnice subs there, difficult to tell which is more bassy really! i have a 1500w amplifer from 'the loudest.com' cant i use that for it ? shame to waste it really..
you could do but you wouldnt be gettin the full potential of the sub. plus you would be over workin the amp (= fried)
and besides the fact theloudest.com is absolutely poop, no where near what the ratings are, end up clipping the signal (distorting it) and quite alot of the cases the amp burns out really quick and they blame you, which ends in a heavy paper weight.
caraudio direct sent me this via email
''Hi
The Alpine Type R subs are very good however you will not really get the same sound as a twin box from one 12" sub unless you went for a very powerful sub in a specially built ported enclosure (that may be as big as what you have now)
You would need to be prepared for a change in the sound to be honest.''
From what hes saying it seems like you cant have a normal sized 12" box with a very good sub to make it as powerful as my current fusions?

do u want a sub to shake all the nuts and bolts outta the c or u want a sub to do wat it was designed to do and give some bass to ur music without rattling ya fillings out, its ok if ur going to do comp's to produce big bass but i dont think u r!? so rather than it sounding pants get a decent sub and gd amp and make ur music sound good not all vibrations!!
well i want the sound to be good but also vibrate the car allot!! you know when your sitting at home and a car drives past and your house shakes and sets off car alarms? thats what i want!! :D but yea want it to be quality bass!! i dont go to comps. My fusion sub sounds a bit dodgy at high lvls.

what do u expect from fusion though there pants!! ive got twin type r subs with alpine amps rather than looking like a gary boy mine is set up for quilty and looks and sounds the muts nuts also dont atrack the old bill, i used to have a corsa b with 4 12" audio systems x12 in and audio systems amps that was bloody loud and vibrated the **** outta the poor B. but i was always getting pulled even when the volume was on low!! joys of living in essex then though!!
haha nice well the only reason im replacing my twin fusions is because i cant actually fit anything bigger than a mobile phone in my boot lol. i want a bit of space :) i would like to have 2 alpine type R's fitted in nicely but i have no idea how it would work and if i would have any bootspace left? what kind of amp would you run for each type R? do you reckon there is anyway to have these and also have access to spare wheel?
cheers

its not trust me.... its got a huge magnet on the back... made from poly kevlar..... when they first came to the uk the guy in colchester at world of ice hooked one up to a amp and ran it for 8 hour straight at fall wack didnt even get hot or blow like many others would!! i nearly bought these again for the c but wanted a fall alpine install!!
cool, well when i get some spare cash i might get 2 of the alpine Type R's and get them install in some way so ive got some boot space still :)
