Hi all,

Just after some advise on the correct way to go about spraying stuff.

I'm gonna spray my roofrails tomorrow, I've got them completely smooth so there's no texture.

Now what do I do? Obviously Prime > Paint > Laquer but how many coats of each, do I sand in between coats? If so what grit wet and dry do I use?

Also, do you sand metallic paint so that it's a matt finish before you laquer? Some say do, some say don't.

Any help appreciated

Primer > wet&dry 800-1000 (lightly) > primer > w&d 1000-1200 (very lightly) > paint (leave for 10)> paint (leave for 15) > paint (leave for a day in a warm area) > laquer

That's the way I did my bumperstrips (without the laquer) and came out great

Sand first, then do a guide coat of primer, then just keep building up the layers of primer until your happy, then very lightly sand, spray a guide coat of paint and repeat, then just 2 coats or so of laquer on top

Id superglue the little flaps with arrows that actually let you fit the roof bars, then fill the hole with fibreglass, as theres no way youll be using them ever, if you paint them in.
