View Full Version : has anyone colourcoded there car themselfs
im thinking if i take my time ect and another pair of hands might do the front and rear bumper and im fed up of the ****ty colour of the plastics when its rained and sick of buying back to black :\

Its not as easy as it sounds mate tbh
It will never look good done yourself, get the pros to do it
how much would a body shop charge just for the front plastic bit at the front and rear ?

i'm pretty sure the whole bumpers would have to be sprayed..
my garage said it was pointless doing it and asked for £ 150-200 , but i aint got loads of grey plastic as its facelift sxi+ etc. apparently thats a good price? i wouldnt do stuff like that myself tbh.
Thats a fairly good price, thats roundabout the minimum anywhere would charge to pick up their sandpaper and guns to make it worth their while.
MattH has, he's generally good at all things mechanical and he couldn't get it perfect
i colour coded my own car
do mine cubeh, how much u want
yeah i memba a guy ,think it was matt, who had a body kitted silver C, did it all himself.....
were pics up of him sanding it all down etc
sold it in the end :S

Of his mum spanking his arse because he ruined the car?
should we tell him not to colourcode the windows and windscreens?
i did mine myself, think i put a little bit too many coats on, they seem a little darker but not a big deal!
Also, black is hardest colour to do, ive heard...
do it Lew
yo won't know until you try it yourself
whats the worse that could happen?
tbh, if you nack it up, you can buy a new bumper for like £40 from ebay, also... if you wanted, you can just get a body shop to respray it and because youve already sanded it (or shud have) it wont cost as much!
so just give it a go, but be prepared for it to fcuk up as its a 50/50 chance of the outcome
