so which one wins? I deffinatly say Auto Glym. I used to use Mer, but that stuff if a nightmare to get off! I then brought some Meguiars NXT generation Wax, gives an exellent finish if you can get it right, but on my black C, it leaves nasty oily marks that dont wipe off! you have to wait a few weeks for the car to get dirty again!

Just brought some Auto Glym Ulta Deep shine....now this stuff is awsome! it just wipes straight on, then wipes straight off and give a really nice deep shiny finish....finally I found a polish that works for me :D

Nothing will ever come close to meguiar's! If your struggling to get it off then you are either applying to much or not doing it panel by panel! But people have their opinions!

Sounds like you really need to clean your car back to the paint and apply in layers GRUFF. The 3 Stage is good, but it sounds like it's reacting with something underneath.

what are the 2 stages before the wax? cud probly buy those products seperatly, its worth a try

Basically, stage 1 is a paint cleaner to remove polish/wax and any other crap on the paint, stage 2 is a polish to shine the body, and then you seal it with a wax for stage 3 :D

Could be worth a try, but don't pay £7 a bottle for your bonnet, just borrow mine at the next show and give it a try ;)

before using 3 stage you should clay bar the paint. otherwise its nowhere near as effective and a waste of time and effort because the cleaner has hardly any cutting compound so doesnt remove all the crap (pollution etc.) from the paintwork.

I wish! My black c's ditched within a few days, sometimes even less. :(

I use auto glym super resin polish - does the trick, but i'm gonna try this other stuff next as loads of people have said its really good.

Did you try using the NXT gen stuff after the Super Resin as a top coat? I've found it works better like that. However, I've gone off the NXT gen stuff.
Bought it maybe Sept 04 and now it seems reluctant to come out the bottle and gloopy making it hard to spread evenly.
I found a 2 year old bottle of Turtle Wax Colour Magic the other day and it did an equally good job, left the surface even smoother. Although it does leave an awful lot of dust - unlike the NXT stuff.

the easier a polish cums off aint a guide to how good it is.

personally, i use autoglym super resin. done the whole car when i picked it up and it too k a fair bit of time to get the roughness off the paintwork. but now i do it once a week/fortnight and it gives the car a mirror finish.

highly reccomended

couldbe to do with the cloth ur using to buff the polish back off.

i sumtimes get similar marks if i use cloth that has the wee holes all thru it...

i've found i get a better result by using sumthing like a T shirt (dont laugh lol)

Best type of cloths to use are 100% cotton! I use beer towels like what u get in a pub (obviously clean ones, wash them first) I find that they are the best things to use with any type of polish whether it's megs or ag! Also they're really good for washin the car with and if ya not polishin it they're great chamois!

do you do one panel at a time? then remove it? do you take it off while its still a bit moist or when its completly dry?

what are you using to apply and remove? and do you apply it gently or give it a good rub!?

i tried so many products and differant ways of applying it, its making me sick! lol

I use the applicator pad and i rub it in and let it dry. Do one side of the car at a time but make sure the car is quite cold or in the shade to get best results. If the panels are hot its going to bake the stuff you put on and it wont work it will just take forever to get off.
To take the stuff off try using a beer towel if ya can get hold of one there really soft and it brings it off easy with good results.

a meguiars terry towel is recommended. i find it best to rub off the polish using a terry towel, and to then go over the entire car with an electric polisher to really finish the buffing off. then i go over it with paint sealer, and again use the electrics polisher to buff that off :)

I always use Autoglym Super resin, never had any probs, will the black one now to check for the shine! I always use mutton cloth to polish adn wipe off and usually do the whole car before I buff it! Do it everyweek in the summer, parking in the city centre the car gathers ****loads of dust from other traffic etc, so has to be done! been collecting loads of seagull ****e lately aswell, have to clean it off everyday, its right pain, cant park nowhere else though, unless I want to pay stupid money!

My car gets parked rite under a tree and them pigeons are very messy! I find that megs just comes off easier than ag. Ave got some of ag's paint renovator an when me car got scratched by the *******e who drove into it then drove off that got rid of most of the scratch. The megs is better stuff imo for use every week but never used it with an electric polisher, got one but it just vibrated too much on my car :\.
