View Full Version : Brakes making a strange noise

Dont really know what this is but its starting to worry me abit, when im driving along on certain type of road surfaces (unpaved/bumpy) i can here a kind of stratching noise coming from the front driver side brake, well sounds like its from the brake doesnt effect the braking of the car at all, at first it was only on roads like that but earlier today it did it pulling up at some traffic lights, could it be the pads? doesnt seem to be that type of noise though and i can only hear it if i turn the music off and listen for it but its starting to bug me now. any ideas? :?

I was thinking this but then wouldnt this effect the braking of the car? eg making it pull one way or taking longer to pull up?

The pads have a metal in them so when they are low that make a noise, they should effect the braking until very low.

do you mean they shouldnt effect braking till its very low? only came on with the last 2 - 1 weeks

it's where you've got paint on your disc i bet lol. it'l rub off in no time

been a week since i painted them gotta of come off by now surely? plus i was careful lol

yeh if you've been driving it a lot. comes off after few miles

pretty much sounds like the pads guna have a look on sunday, anyone else have anymoe ideas though?

Is it a scratching or a squeak/squealing?? And are u heavy on your breaks?? Im not trying to catch you out or anything but if its any of the above i have a good idea what it is!

yeah spot on with the noise mate naa not heavy on them tbh i mean there is the odd one or two ocassions when i have to but dnt brake hard everytime i break, why what you thinking?
