Any recommendations?
Gonna give it a go in October for a local thing which is on every month. Never done it before, so any tips'd be nice.
Was tempted to whack it on Sport mode, and give it a bash, to see the outcome.
I know a flash would be useless, so that's out of the question.

Where did you take the pics of Billy Talent?
But Keith check out this guys gig photography, hes pretty amazing, hes taking pics of my band at a gig in October. I would suggest you charge more than what he does though as he only takes £10 for a nights photography.

I'm doing it for free mate. I know a mate who puts on gigs every month at the local college, and I've played there a few times, so I had a word with him the other day, about getting some photo's for him, so I can get some for myself too.
He said yeah, and whacked me on the guestlist, so I'll be able to go every month, and get some experience for free. Then when I decide I'm half decent, I can charge. :P
Got some from Avenged Sevenfold last night, will put them up later.
i did some for the holloways a while back...they're not great i'll admit but have a look if you want

I stuck mine on aperture priority and set it as low as possible, which was F3.5 as I was using a kit lens. I'll post them up once ive edited, at the moment I am lacking a working HDD, and I wouldnt know where to start editing photo's with GIMP on Fedora.
I used the flash for most, but I like having some elements of the stage lighting in the picture as well - I found the flash completely overrided the stage lights on people. I kind of compensated for this by adjusting the flash exposure, but that wasnt ideal. Some will come out real nice in the edit I hope.
Trial and error tbh!

Lol, yeah. I'm wanting a 50mm, but I think it'll be a while before I get it. I'll stick with my 28-300mm lens, to see how that handles mid-gig. I'll take the kit 18-55mm though, incase.
