According to Sony, most likely not. Had training for 2 days at their UK head office, the 80GB is definately coming, the 160GB is a rumour. Of course, they might not be telling the truth, i just wouldnt be so sure!

as said, the guys at the UK Sony head office said the 160GB was a rumour
Hmmm, quite possibly be a rumour, but there's quite a lot on this 160gb, saying it's a limited edition model. Either way, I'm sticking to my backwards compatible, 4 usb port 60gb ps3 :).
can u buy the HDD seperate? my 30gb ones is nearly full because of GT5 prologue and its massive save files
Yeah, any 2.5" HDD (laptop size), will fit straight in ;)

Yes any 2.5 SATA 5400 RPM notebook harddrive will fit ;) Thats how ka$h did it with his ;) 160 gb for £30 or 320gb for £60 so we went with the bigger one. Was dead easy, 5 screws was all it took :D Why pay out more money for the 80gb ps3 when you can mod your own ;)
Therefore my reccomendation is buy a 40gb ps3 cheap whilst they try to get rid of the stock then buy the bigger drive with your saving ;)

Well the main reason to not do it is because any hardware modifications will invalidate the manufacturers warranty

If you read the paperwork that comes with the ps3 it gives you instructions on how to change the hard drive so does not invalidate the warranty ;)

Yes it does. We dont accept PS3's returned with modified HDD's at work as it invalidates the warranty.

changing any kind of hardware from any manufacturers standard invalidates warranty
an easy way of gettin round it is to just switch it back if it ****s up lol
and yes its a brilliant price, as the 40gb ones r still selling for £280 on ebay

It doesn'y say that anywhere, besides it is easy to change it back to the original one therefore you have no way of knowing what hard drive has been in it ;)

It doesnt have to say it, its a given that any hardware changes will invalidate the warranty, just like if you open up a computer and install more RAM you will invalidate your warranty. Yes, you can change it back as long as you are careful. Its piss easy to spot a machine that has been messed with.
It's a good job my warranty's run out then, gonna upgrade mine soon.

Only if it has been done by a clown. There are now seals, no scratches or any marks or anything therefore no way of telling that our ps3 has been modified in any way shape or form. If you are a ham fisted goon when doing the mod then thats your luck out but I can guarentee that there is no way of telling ;)

Sony encourages PS3 owners to upgrade their hard drive
It is something about opening up your gaming console that many companies such as Microsoft raises a red flag on. In some cases, it may even void the warranty that one may have. Sony on the other hand takes a completely different stance on this, only if it is held within certain boundaries.
With the great abundance of content that an owner could have on his or her PS3 console from game saves, pictures, trailers, and other PSN downloads, a 40GB or even 80GB hard drive may fill up at a rapid pace.
So what would incline an individual to not try to open up their console to place in a much higher storage drive, say, 120GB? Well, if you are a PS3 owner then you are in luck, because Sony is allowing you to upgrade your hard drive to any type that you may find at a retailer such as Best Buy.
Social Media Manager, Jeff Rubenstein explains:
“No matter which model of the PLAYSTATION 3 you’ve got - 20GB, 40GB, 60GB, or 80GB - music, video, and gaming download fiends will find a way to fill up their hard disk drive. Fortunately, the PS3 doesn’t require some hard-to-find proprietary HDD - you can swap it out yourself with the kind of drive found at most electronics retailers and on the internet.”
He also explains the type of HDD you may use for your PS3 if one decides to go that route:
“The type of internal 2.5″ drives that work with the PS3 top out at about 250gb. So if you’re looking for more storage and/or don’t wanna bother with opening up your box, 500gb external USB drives are also readily available.”You must be very dense to think Sony could not tell you have swapped HDD, even if its done perfect.
It will invalidate your warranty also, any R-Tard will tell you this.
I just use an external HDD, much easier.
;) x 10...
