I do indeed. I didn't like the boarding school atmosphere at Nottingham, was really jsut a personal thing, I hear the school is great though (if you don't get robbed or stabbed in halls  ).

Tripod looks fine, camera is probably fine. I use an 8mp Canon powershot which serves me well, some of the Chinese chappies use proper DSLR equipment but it's complete overkill and a bitch to lug around.

You can enlarge 8mp up to a2 size with no pixelation, which is nice, and you won't be printing big pictures anyways really. Would be interesting to find out how your course is different from mine was.

Congratumalations on getting in too! Youll probably have to sacrifice a bit of social life to do really well, so make the most of the first semester there, when the pressure isn't really on, as it gets worse and worse from then on!

Yeah i went to look at newcastle twice and i dont know what it was about it but there was something i didnt like too much, think it might have been the people tbh, seemed to be a lot of chavs in the town centre too but then again.....im going to nottingham lol

D.w im looking to invest in a bullet/stab-proof vest

Yeah proper DSLR stuffs just too pricey for me considering the amount of other equipment ive got to buy, any suggestions for a drawing board?

I got the welcome pack for the course the other day and some of its put me off, for example: i have to do my first assignment before i get there and have to consider my life as a whole and on 8 140mm x 140mm peices of white card i have to portray things that have made me who i am today visually or verbally...wtf??? 8 things???? lol not a clue what to do. Loads to do with architecture? =/

But...on the plus side....theres a architect trip to amsterdam in november that they sent me the forms for :D

Im well aware im gunna be really busy and not have half as much time for a social life as most people so im kinda prepared for that

What year are you on now?

me? :o

Well as i said in Oli's thread, it is strictly a point and shoot type camera. For that price, you arent really going to to any better. Bear in mind it was never worth £179.99, companies simply put them on sale at that sort of price for a few months and then bring the price down to a competitive level and advertise a load of money off.

If you can stretch to £139.99, then definately http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-Digital-IXUS-80-Camera/dp/B0012ZEDV4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1219684434&sr=8-1

Offers very good value for money.

aha yeah you :P

Ahh right, fair enough thanks mate,

Yeah i could stretch to that, is it that much better considering its 8 mega pixel not 10?

Megapixels are not a measure of picture quality, it is simply the size of the picture that it will produce. The Canon will still produce A3+ size images, but with significantly less noise than the Samsung, and the Canon has a far superior lens with optical image stabilisation, will be able to take more pictures on a single charge, and the canon has a whole host of advanced features that the samsung does not.
