The IP address is an identifier for a computer or device on a TCP/IP network.
Networks using the TCP/IP protocol route messages based on the IP address of the destination. The format of an IPv4 IP address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255. For example, 65.217.30.70 could be an IP address. Within an isolated network, you can assign IP addresses at random as long as each one is unique. However, connecting a private network to the Internet requires using registered IP addresses (called Internet addresses) to avoid duplicates.
go to start, run then in there type

think of it as your computers dialing code to connect to the internet
So how do the mods check your ip address?, if you log onto the site from different pc's will it keep track of them all or are they overwritten with the most recent?

its overwritten with your most recent BUT, there are logs in which every IP address uve used to connect the forum are available, so if your using a static IP, and using more than 1 username, it will show, if your using dynamic IP, u can trace back to your computer ASN, and bypass IP address altogether
Do mods have access to the log of every ip adress thats logged in as me?
9. Use of proxy services
The use of proxy servers as in those of known proxy server sites and hosting companies like layeredtech, ev1servers and others is prohibited. Although we respect your privacy, those we find hiding behind a non-normal proxy server (normal being for example NTL, AOL, BT, etc..) will be permanently banned from our messageboard.
