View Full Version : wireless router
just bought vista laptop but it's not picking up my wireless router.
it's a buffalo turbo g
i'v tried connecting it manually but no luck. at the moment i'm connected using the ethernet cable to it.
am i missing something out ?
Without sounding like im taking the piss, but is the wireless options turn on on the laptop and the router?

If your ssid is hidden on the wireless router vista wont see it. Turn off hide SSID on the router and then try again.
It's enabled on the laptop and router.
the ssid is enabled on the router setting
i'v even pushed the asos button on top of router to automaticly pick up the laptop but its not finding nothing.
the laptop works on my netgear router but not on this buffalo.
i'm assuming its the router settings then to the laptop settings ?
maybe try changing the channel mate to 5, My laptops only pick it up on that channel for some reason
PS(soz about the facelight light i was going to buy it and another and smoke them and sell them but my car then went tits ups)

make sure the software for the router is compatible with vista
On the router box it doesnt say support vista, but my old man has the same router in his shop and the vista laptop there works.
i have knowledge when comes to pcs and network abit but its actually caught me here!
Everything is ticked, SSID is on
