I understand, just a bit lost really and trying to find an answer
It actually isn't illegal EVB so I don't agree with you deleting my post, and i'm sorry SILENTNIGHT i'm not going to help you further
The guy has a full liscence for XP Home so he is allowed to do as stated in my previous post.
However if he doesn't have an XP Home liscence then doing what stated in my previous post is definately illegal.
If you actually have ever installed Windows you will know that an OEM copy official disk or not will ask for you to enter a CD Key. He has a CD Key as stated so its perfectly legal then Windows activation will be fine. Entering in a fake CD Key and then bluffing activation is bad.

and as jamie said in his original post, you download it from the windows xp home site which at a guess is microsoft? im pretty sure they're not illegal :\ poor call from EVB imo
To actually obtain a copy of windows is not illegal. However to obtain a cracked version, or an illegal serial code/keygen/patch is.

okydoky never mind
The way you worded it made me delete it. "Backup copy" was mentioned.
Anyway, problem solved.
