View Full Version : Smoothing
Can anyone explain to me how smoothing is done and where it can be done? I'm thinking of getting some parts smoothed but i'm not too sure what this involves

Ask at a good body shop, what parts you wanting smoothed?
Front and rear bumper, and possibly the arches too, or d'ya reckon it'd be better just to colour code the arches and skirts?

Depends on what style you like, and how smooth you want to go.
A lot of people get their arches and skirts CC'd, it looks good on certain cars but you can't go back once that's done.
What colour car you got?
Be warned smoothing will never be perfect, ask for your guarentee and what it covers cos when getting your bumpers smoothed they will start to sink eventually.
Sorry this reply's pretty late, but I have a black car so CC would look good, right? Oh right, when you say sink what exactly does that mean?

Just get the stock plastic trim colour coded to match your car colour. I think when they say sink, it means basicly when you have some parts smoothed, they have to be filed in because the removal of these items leaves holes and these have to be filled, I think its done with expanding foam but I really have no idea, but after time it leaves dimples i think, like it sinks inwards.?

basics the filler shrinks making the bumper look sunk in where you had the bump strips
