Im not exactly sure how it it started but the glass in my drivers side mirror has slowly become loose until the point that now it just faces up permanately.

Its electric and heated but using the controls no longer has any effect (the mirror just slips again)

Ive tried to prod around a bit behind the glass but i dont want to break anything as im really not sure what im doing

Any (noob friendly) advice / links to previous threads on how to fix the problem or just dissasemble an electric mirror so i can look at the problem properly would be appreciated.

Hopefully i wont be doomed to forever have to look right over my shoulder like a knob everytime i want to overtake someone

Yea apparently they come off their mounts. give it a good push in the centre and it should pop back into place.

make sure you use the palm of ur hand and push the centre or u will crack the mirror and the glass is £52 from vaux

Mine was wonky but it was a ball joint that had popped out.
If yours is like mine then you should be able to pull it a bit and see if thats all is at fault and fix easily and for free

Thanks everyone for the help

really was as simple as lining up the ball joint and giving it a firm thud.

Can you believe that was one of the reasons my car failed her MOT!!

the guy at the garage said the whole thing would need to be replaced and just the mirror itself would be £140.99

Its a ****ing disgrace
