Anybody done this before? I have read the tutorial about changing pads and everything looks ok for that, but just after some advice on how to change the discs, I know it will be fairly simple in terms of it just being one bolt, but what sort of bolt is it? Do i need any 'special tools' for it? How tight does it need to be when i replace it? Just those sort of queries really. Its going to be my project for the weekend so some tips would be v.helpful!! Cheers

Er... it's two bolts for the caliper bracket and one torx screw for the disc itself. after following hte tutorial. The caliper bracket has anti-tamper bolts so you'll need the correct socket for those, otherwise it's simple.

Just been speaking to my dad about doing the brakes at the weekend, he said i should find out if i need to change or lube the wheel bearings when i remove the discs, and also how tight are you supposed to tighten the torc screw when putting the disc back on. Does this mean much to anyone? Or is he talking old skool!

Think i might have to invest in a haynes bible

he is talkin old skool the wheel bearings have nothing to do with the brake parts now.all you have to change is the disks and put some grease on the outside of the pads thats is then just do the torc screw back up as tight as you can do it without slipping off of it, as when you put the wheels back on the bolts will go through the disk into the hub pulling all of these together

I tried changing my dics today, but couldnt manage to get those two caliper bolts off? any idea how to get them off? i pulled and pulled on my ratchet and they wont budge, mashing u the bolt a bit too. I havent got no special socket to get it off, i am just using a standard socket, think the size was 9/16" but the bolt wont budge.

Help! otherwise i think will take it down a local garage to do... i hate getting defeated by stupid things like this. after looking at the haynes manual, it says use some special cement when putting the caliper bolts back in?!? does this lock the bolt in making it so bloody hard to remove? doesnt help having the car on axle stands either, i get scard that the car might fall off or summit lol!!

You need a star socket mate. e20 I think. I just brought a set because I could not find the socket on it's own. Set cost 17 quid.
