how hard is it 2 do this????
http://i17.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/98/df/e9_1_sbl.JPG
from the picture it doesnt look too hard at all, however would even dream about doing it if it requires removing the airbag from the steering wheel...

Im not sure i had a look at trying to get them off the other day, I think you just have to get the cassing off between the dials and wheel :\

dont do it, u will need a new airbag 4 sure, even if it doesnt go off removing the airbag it can still b damaged n not work wen (sorry) if u crash http://www.corsa-c.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
Yeh as per the rest of posts, if it requires removal of the airbag (which looking where the screw holes are located on the controls looks like you do) I wouldnt bother, it could cause serious injury whilst fitting let alone in a collision.

ok cheers ppls
Right, apart from the first post here, the rest you read is utter crap!
To remove the airbag from the wheel, there are 2 grub screws (T27) on the back ot the wheel. Undo these and lift your central airbag mudule up out of the way. There is a locked in pin connector on the bag to stop it falling off and causing damage, not that this matters because you can remove the airbag anyway without consequence, just you don't need to for this.
Inside your steering wheeel, you will see the multipin plug for the horn and switches. Unplug this then the horn from that. Remove the two torx from each set of switches and lift out. Sit your airbag back in place while you work on the LED's. If it's a long time, refit the grub screws.
I changed Jameshs_SRi switches over at the fast show this year in about 10 minutes as he had smashed one of his. No problems, and no worries about airbags or anything.

Cheers Danny ;)
If all you want to remove are the switches, just lift up the airbag like the left pic and then remove the torx on the switches. You can see them on the pic as they are silver ;)

You should NEVER remove an airbag yourself. There are certain proceedures to follow. It is NOT a DIY job!!!!!!!

Yeah, whatever!
Mine's been out about 8 times now, Chan's, Jameshs_SRi's and and as you can see GSi's had his out too.
There really isn't a problem with it, just don't go round hitting it or dropping it. Common sense tells you it's not something to play footy with and give it some respect, but no need to totally treat it with kid gloves.
If you can't remove 2 screws and call it DIY then you really want to get another hobby

I'm only telling what I've been told by numerous garages! Voids your warranty, dangerous, probably need another one etc etc!!! And I don't think I need another hobby!!!

Yeah, garages love to tell you things like that. IF you take it to them, it makes them money :|
Also, if you remove the bag, and replcae it, who's gonna know? not the garage, that's for sure, so your warranty's safe ;)

Funny enough I done it myself!
This so called 'proceedure' in removing the airbag is simple - disconnect the battery, wait 15 minutes and unplug it, same with passenger bag and the seat belt pre-tensioners
I will admit that if you only have a few brain cells this is not the job for you, but even everyone can just lift it out the way!
Actually, just noticed the different GSi wheel. Very smart mate :thumbs:Cheers Ka$h
I will admit I did have a little problem of the bag light on after changing it, took it to a tech2 and was just a dodgy connection to the bag, all sorted now
Guys at the garage know what I'm like but they did ask that if it was a fault with the bag unit what would I do - simple - remove the LED from the dials  Which I havn't done btw, it is all sorted
Just Fitted New Blue Switches myself, it was a piece of P*** to do!! Just follow Ka$h's advice and you cant go wrong!!

anyone ?
is the little vauxhall badge in the centre of the airbag just like a cover for the bag, can this little cap be replaced easily as the chrome is flaking off mine?
also where the hell does the passenger airbag actually come out from in a crash?

mjw, its next to impossible without getting an opel spec centre of wheel to change that badge, also if you have a question that is not directly relating to the subject matter start a new topic as you will get better help.
