Hey everyone,
I've currently got a set of 17" ET42 wheels with 45 profile tyres, however the rubbing is awful (with no lowering)..
I've been offered a set of 16" Et42 wheels with 45 profile tyres, will these be any better, and will I be able to lower the car OK?
Cheers,
Sam

where abouts does it rub!?
i think its probably the width thats the problem m8 :!:
not the diameter :!:
plenty of lads have 17's on here n no probs as such!
What's the width of your current tyres mate?
If htey are 205 then your really are unfortunate that they are rubbing. Ideally you should have 205/40 tyres to minimise the risk. Some cars have 215/45 and it's more than it can handle. 215/45 have a wall height of 96.75mm whereas 205/40 have a wall height of 82mm. That's over an inch of tyre, and it sits 5mm closer to the arch before it starts as it is 10mm wider than the 205 one!!!!
Check your rubber before swapping the wheels if you are happy with the rim.

You sure your off set is ET42? My mate has 16s with 45 rubbers, the offset is ET 37 and lowerd 40mm with no rubbing what so ever!!!

Cheers for the replies lads, but I've wanted a set of 16"s for a while and a really good set has made its way to me so I had to have them, reading what you've put they should be fine :)
