best bet mate is a real chamois leather and dnt do it in the sun, works for me:thumbs:
but ive been thinking or trying the flash car wash thing with the auto wonder it works:?
yeah i got a real chamois leather, and i guess doing it in the sun is the trouble, i only usually got time to do it straight after work, in the sun. But even so when time in shade, its a lot of damn elbow grease, ive just been looking at the flash car wash thing aswel, anyone got one? i read to believe that it auto dries your car yet you still have to leather it off - only slightly though, and you gotta mess about buying new filters all the time i think.

Mines not that bad, if your having real issues try polishing it, might improve matters for a while ;)
yeah i do polish it with auto glym deep shine which works good, i mean from a distance it looks top notch, im just a perfectionist, when im up close to the car i want it to gleam all over with shine rather then smears or such in places
Yeah i find it a funt to keep clean the best thing i've found is to get it dimondbrite'd every 6months or so and saying that im over due one so best get it done :D
She'll always come up clean then, this is an old pic but you get the idea of how clean vvv

the flash car wash thing is great if the car aint in the sun...otherwise the sun does the same old job of drying it for u....and u get water marks....bitch when i cleaned the car...bonnet nice....shaded bit nice...bit open to sun water marks no way!....recleaned and used a chamois...use flash in shade!
yeah i get that outcome on my car when ive spent absolutely hours and hours on it. Is this diamondbrite worth it? i may be confused with something else, im sure i was offered diamondbrite at the vaux garage for the whole of my car they said it would cost 600 quid and i told them where to stick it, sounds like im damn confused here *Long day*

dont you have to keep buying filters and stuff? how much do they set you back, all these re-fills i thought was a con
Yes you get offered dimondbrite when you buy yuor car new, i purchased it and also keep getting it re-dimondbrited every 6months orso but obvoisly dont use vx anymore
so how much we talking then lol cos to be honest if its expensive... you put a car with diamond on next to one some lads been sweating buckets over keeping it clean with his collection of auto glym or mer or whatever... you dont see much difference if any, just saves the trouble lol
Normally exspensive but i get dimondbrite and valleted for £90 from a mate of mine :D A cheaper alternative would be to get a bodyshop to give it a good buff normally around £30, will make it alot easier to keep it clean ;)
yeah its always that business - a mate of mine, a mate of a mate. i have none of those sorta mates lol. 30 quid it will be.
 Well i work for a local builder and you find that most jobs you do are for people who own there own businesses ect so get to know afew people but i know most of them from just going down places ect or building them offices ect on the side ;) Thats a really good way of getting discount :)
Dodgy builder eh, i should of bloody guessed ;)
wash it n dry it then take it for a spin round the block to empty the annoying bits of water that lives in your wing mirrors!
goto a hand car wash who will wash and dry then when you get home get the auto glym polish on it wrk's wonder's for me...... when it rains just watch the water roll off :)
just done mine with auto glym! Nice!
to be honest i dont have that much problems with the black now i cover it each night -the only time i get sort of streaks is when i've driven it in the rain and it must get in behind the door mirrors and then as the car dry's the water will still leak out and down the side of the car - it's a pain in the backside
and it's sort of greasy

The secret to avoiding water marks is...soft water :) . Unfortunately I have hard water and a black car so everytime I wash my car I have to wet wax it and chammy it and wax again. Direct sunlight makes it much worse though.
wat you can do... when you wash it, put 2 capfulls of mer in the water, then it dries with the polish on the car, buff it of and its nice and shiney.

I got tired of water marks, and I could never get hold of a good quality leather to dry it off so bought the flash gun. The auto dry is amazing. Car dries free of water marks, and I dont have to dry it by hand with a shammi!!! Definately worth a buy

Got mine from halfords. Oh and you get a gun too - so no need to fill a bucket up either :P
so it auto dries the car? and you dont have to touch it with a leather as it takes every watermark or such away? sounds bloody fantastic

yes but no ones mentioned how much the filters etc are and how often they need replcaeing? if its every two months then it aint worth it really
and im thinking of having a black car are they really this bad to keep clean? ive had metalic turqoise and that was bad as it always atracted dirt the day after i washed it, white car i had was dreadfull for fingerprints and everything, bet never owned or washed a black car (had to pass valeting course for my bodyshop certificate)

That's right - couldn't believe it myself at first. But it really does work. Only thing is you have to change the filter like every 8 washes and its about a fiver I think for a new filter
the filters are £4.99, last about 3 washes iirc

I have a black Corsa and I just use one of them Flash Car Wash things. I personally find mine does the trick everytime! No leather or anything required. Mine cost me £15 from Homebase and the filters are £4.99 and if you dont go mad you can get about 7-8 washes out of them. The shampoo is £3.99 and that last ages.
i got a dark blue one and that is an arse to keep clean but i usually park it in shade and hose it down well so it cools the paintwork then wash it and dry it quickly then take out for a spin, then get my real shamois and wipe of the annoying little runs from bumpers wing mirrors ect and then giv a quick lik of super resin polish
I find the flash car wash ok does not leave water marks as long as you change the water filter every few washes. I live in a hard water area and only get about 3 washes out of a 10 washes filter. :)
the flash car wash thing - does that need connecting up to a hose pipe or something?
yeah, put it on the hose, and then put cartridge and shampoo in it.
When i seen this topic i laughed because i always hate washing my car and then getting water marks,im in scotland aswell where the water is much better and it still looks crap.Got a flash wash gun and what i do is just use it when i want my car looking good.Like no point using it so much now because the roads are dirty and its always raining. Its more for the summer.
Also what i have done is wash the car with normal shampoo and then as the cars still wet get a damp cloth with some wax on it and quickly spread it over the car.You are putting a watered down wax on the car.Leave it 10 mins to dry and then buff off leaving a lil shine.Because its watered down its just like a very thin paste and very easy to wipe off.
find that better than just trying to dry water on its own.

It's the same on all cars m8, black looks the dogs bollox but it's really hard to keep clean, unless it's metallic. There is however another solution to it tho but it aint cheap: get a double blanque laquer paintjob done.

i used to hav a black c, (pre facelift) with solid black paint, was ****ed off with it so went to see vx, they said it was water based paint with no top coat. (probably B****CKS) but they did mop and polish it to get rid of some scratches for free. Kept the car for 18 months cleanin and polishin most weekends then traded it for a silver sri 04, much easier to dry but still got the water traps round the wing mirrors, door handles, rear window, head lights, etc, etc, Give em a good blow! looks stupid but does the trick.
I use meguirs shampoo and the few drips you do get don't dry white so it doesn't look to bad.
