Michael Owen has agreed to join Newcastle after holding talks with The Magpies and former club Liverpool.
The Real Madrid star held talks with Newcastle and Liverpool on Monday and he has now agreed a four-year deal at St James' Park. Owen is currently undergoing a medical on Tyneside and he successfully comes through that he will become the club's new record signing.
:x Gutted.
Could be a good signing, god knows they need a good signing.
Vila also signing Wilfred Bouma, PSV defender.

He opted for Newcastle over liverpool though ;)
Liverpool would only pay 8m, what thye sold him for and Real Madrid wouldnt have it.

Newcastle might score at last now!
Were fools for paying that for him, idiots buying someone who said he wanted to play for Liverpool and Newcastle.

Turner... I think its alot also however if he gets the form back that he had before then its gonna be more than money well spent ;)
27m theey have spent on two strikers, better be worth it otherwise Shepherd will be using the sacking exercise again.

He would've gone to Liverpool in a shot if they'd have offered the same as Newcastle
not a bad signing for newcastle although i feel 17m was a bit much?
we payed roughly that much for shearer at the same age. shearer is stronger, cleverer and better in the air, but owen may improve
it can only be a good signing, better than anelka or whoevervelse we were going to "settle for"
we still need a winger or 2, at least another striker, and at least another defender though
we've sold 11 players in 18months, and bought in 5 i think it is now
well...5 decent ones

don't think luque is really a striker, but he's reminding me too much of robert at the minute in every way
Thanks for Aaron Hughes :D

Hughes has been playing really well :D

owen is def. better than anelka and boa morte and the others they were looking at.

hughes is calss especially at centre half, i remember in bobby robsons first year or 2, and before that, i seriousley believed hughes was the most consistently good defender in the premiership
